I got a 4 or 5 song sampler of his forthcoming debut album yesterday, and apparantly, it's something I'm supposed to be into. Except it's awful. Like actually terrible. Which is fun. Because almost nothing is really, really bad anymore. Things are lame, and boring, and trite, and obnoxious, but this is actually bad.
Bent is maybe some kind of middle ground between Buck 65 and Big & Rich. But unlike Buck 65, he's got nothing to say and he can't rap (and I consider Buck 65, technically, a weak rapper, but a great performer). And unlike B & R, he can't sing.
He puts on this real thick hayside affectation and talks about how:
I'm Johnny Cash when I'm drinkin',
I'm the Clash when I'm thinkin’
I'm Mad Max when I'm drivin',
I'm Mike Diamond when I'm rhymin'
I'm Humphrey Bogart when I'm smokin',
I'm Bob Marley when I'm tokin
And in bed when I'm dreamin’
I'm a guitar slingin' demon.
There's a pretty significant buzz around, in Canada at least. At least that's what his label says.

I saw him on a bill with Matt Mays and Ambulence Ltd last year. He was alright live actually. But then he tried to pick up my girlfriend.

I can see where he'd be a lot of fun live, corny and stupid can be great with beer.
