There was an old one?

Joe Perry Project

dude's kicking it solo, stretching out, trying some things. you know the score.

j blount (papa la bas), Thursday, 5 May 2005 19:18 (twenty-one years ago)

something you might not've guessed: he sings like the dude in sparks.

Joe Perry Project (late 70s??) Never heard it, but was at the time that Joe and Steven felt it was time for them to both find their own drug dealer.

ZionTrain, Thursday, 5 May 2005 19:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Circa 1982 I got to see the JPP perform 2.5 songs before Joe collapsed and cancelled the show due to a nasty case of the old flu-like symptoms. The 500 drunk jarheads in attendance were not amused.

Does a cover of "Crystal Ship." PR by the tyrannical Mitch Schneider Operation, the Edward van Klobergs of rock and roll publicity. Time to reminisce about your old Bux record.

Let the Muzak Do the Talking

Joe Perry Project (late 70s??) Never heard it, but was at the time that Joe and Steven felt it was time for them to both find their own drug dealer.

Had a "kinda" hit - "Let the Music Do the Talking", which if I'm not mistaken was recycled for Aerosmith's "forgotten comeback" record, Done With Mirrors.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Thursday, 5 May 2005 19:31 (twenty-one years ago)

The Aerosmith rendition of "Let the Music do the Talking" is awesome. The JPP version is dreadful.

The lead singer of the `Project was truly embarassing.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 5 May 2005 19:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I really LIKE Done With Mirrors actually....I think it's a pretty tough, rockin' lil' record...way better than Permanent Vacation.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Thursday, 5 May 2005 19:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Wasn't Perry's replacement in Aerosmith horrible also? Jimmy Crespo I think? Axl Rose and Slash should have learned by this example.

ZionTrain, Thursday, 5 May 2005 19:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd be more excited about a new Steve Perry solo album. Don't stop believin'!

Leon Federline (Ex Leon), Thursday, 5 May 2005 19:38 (twenty-one years ago)

M@tt, I am SO with you brother. I dig Done With Mirrors. Admittedly, it's clumsy but there's a rawness on there that just screamed reality to me.

ZionTrain, Thursday, 5 May 2005 19:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Was the title Done With Mirrors a coke reference or ?

57 7th (calstars), Thursday, 5 May 2005 19:39 (twenty-one years ago)

How bout a Perry vs Perry mash-up of their new solo tracks? Calling DJ Dangermouse!

ZionTrain, Thursday, 5 May 2005 19:40 (twenty-one years ago)

"Done With Mirrors" was a fine record, very tough-sounding and rock 'n' roll. Aerosmith disowned it, probably because it didn't sell like "Permanent Vacation."

George Smith, Thursday, 5 May 2005 19:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I remember on the cassette I had, all the song titles and everything was written backwards so you had to read it in a mirror.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Thursday, 5 May 2005 19:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I always thought of Done With Mirrors as more of a sex reference, but I'm sure the drug innuendo is part of it.

Do Kiss, AC/DC, Aerosmith.. the best sex and drug innuendo and genital referenced titles in rock history? That might be a thread.

Night In The Ruts, Pump, Rock in A Hard Place, Get A Grip, Pandora's Box, Done With Mirrors

ZionTrain, Thursday, 5 May 2005 19:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Geffen's marketing team blamed poor sales on the backwards artwork idea

ZionTrain, Thursday, 5 May 2005 19:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't forget Honkin' on Bobo.

57 7th (calstars), Thursday, 5 May 2005 19:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Done With Mirrors and Permanent Vacation are probably the only two albums Aerosmith should have made after being reborn.

I was once arrested for shoplifting Done With Mirrors from Kmart. Taken to juvie and everything!

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Thursday, 5 May 2005 19:53 (twenty-one years ago)

LP or Cassette?

ZionTrain, Thursday, 5 May 2005 19:56 (twenty-one years ago)

cassette.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Thursday, 5 May 2005 20:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I've Got The Rock 'n' Rolls Again might be the worst album title of all time. Congratulations, Joe Perry Project!

Jeff Reguilon (Talent Explosion), Thursday, 5 May 2005 20:21 (twenty-one years ago)

is that a diarrhea metaphor?

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Thursday, 5 May 2005 20:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahahahahaha

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 5 May 2005 20:38 (twenty-one years ago)
