Sounding a bit chipmunky on Letterman recently, but the new album seems awesome so far. Rockabilly, calypso, various ingredients I associate with New Orleans, blues, gospel, a very appropriate down-home surrealism slipping through, but not overly reliant on novelty. We saw her last night. She's a little slower and still recovering from knee/hip replacement, but her voice is solid and her band totally capable and respectful. Seeing her perform live is a life-affirming priviledge.
