No, that would be "Four Seasons In One Day" by Crowded House.

I can't think of any song to negate that with, so...OK! Yeah. Damn good song.

But is it better than the companion rendition by Smudge, band of the co-writer? And what ever happened to Smudge?

Smudge are playing the Hoey next Saturday, come down all of ILX!
they went on hiatus in 1999 cos Alison went travelling for a few years, then played once a year at Christmas when she got back in 2002. a little bout of shows late last year (five, plus the Chrissie one) were meant to be tying in with a 10th anniversary edition of Manilow with bonus disc, but the new art for the historically-expanded booklet wasn't done in time (still isn't!). there's going to be a best-of sometime after the Manilow reissue finally does come out.
when they reformed, the plan was to record new jam-based material as they were playing together better than ever, but nothing's come of it.
since the semi-split, Adam focussed on managing Gerl!ng and running a booking agency, and Tom just put more energy into other bands: Sneeze were going before Smudge, but became more of a 'proper' band, playing lots of shows, touring O/S and making more records (2001's Lost The Spirit To Rock & Roll is the best album Tom's ever done); the GiveGoods' first album had Evan on bass and BVs (and drums a bit) and the demos for their next are fantastic; plus he's done a solo 7", played guitar for another band on one record, gotten married and started a duo with his wife etc.
