Bloody Hell. And it's not even a dodgy 'mash-up'.

Rapper Snoop Dogg has said he’d like to collaborate with Franz Ferdinand - and the Scottish band’s singer Alex Kapranos has accepted the invitation to join him in the studio.

Earlier in the month Snoop was quoted in an interview as saying that he wanted to collaborate with Franz Ferdinand. "I'm working on an album that I plan to do with a lot of European artists. I wanna do something with the people that sang ‘Take Me Out’," said Snoop.

Kapranos recently said in an interview: "Someone told me the guy who does ‘Drop It Like It's Hot' wants to collaborate with us. That's great. I love that song and like his style."

Is Snoop Dogg really not an icon in Great Britain/Scotland? He's gotta be bullshitting. "Gin and Juice," anyone?

I think that poster who made the funny Billboard list was OTM.

Seriously, I can see this all ending in tears. Horrible horrible tears. But Snoop is pretty high almost all the time, I think things like the names of artists/bands/his own children tend to pass him by frequently.

"Gin and Juice" only got to #39 in the UK. "Drop It Like It's Hot" was his first top 10 single, fact fans.

Top Ten singles "What's My Name?" and "Gin & Juice" kept Doggystyle at the top of the charts during early 1994

Maybe not quite so surprising if you've already heard Alex Kapranos guesting on the most recent Handsome Boy Modelling School single, "The World's Gone Mad".

Yeah, then it goes from "surprising" to "I have a bad feeling about this".

It's possible Kapranos might have been being wry after hearing Snoop's quote re: his band's anonymity.
