Steve Reich - The Desert MusicCool ambient/dark project with grim feelings such as Fenriz's Storm project, Thou Shalt Suffer, or Mayhem's almighty "Sylvester Anfang." Very complex textures, though production might be a bit too clean. Also using the desert for a setting is I think very original, though still I prefer icy frozen battlegrounds.
VA - Run the RoadThis came recommended to me by a friend in Oslo who shall remain nameless who listens often to the club music. I enjoyed the beginning of several of the hymns: very dark industrial synthetic feelings as from Arcturus or the lost great Mysticum. Also a disarming chaotic feel, and very eerie atmosphere. You can imagine I was shocked then when the horrible vocals began! Then this became a typical kind of baggy pants rap garbage. A couple of the singers had some raspy English accent like Lemmy, but I did not have the patience for that, although I must say I enjoyed some of the tracks from the Motorhead Inferno album heard in a bar before the Nifelheim listening session.

As for mothers day, fuck mothers in my opinion. Mothers weild too much influence over the second wave of Norwegian black metal. For some ( I mention no names, but were I to mention Mortiis from Emperor, I could not say he was not on the top of my mind) would not even go to the shop to buy a lutefisk without his mother's say-you-can-so.

S.O.A.D. - "Mezmerize" First off, I should mention that this is an American joke band, but not the same joke band as S.O.D., the masters of Speak English or Die featuring Danny Lilker (Brutal Truth, Hemlock). That was the suprise but perhaps I should learn to read the mailorder catalog more closely! When I introduced this CD to my ears, however, I thought the CD was defectively skipping, there are so many styles. In fact, it is typical of joke bands such as Spazztik Blurr or Lawnmower Deth to change styles often. But when one is playing a decent old Manowar riff with rather punk vocals, it does not make any sense to change to a trendy type of pop music chorus. That is just nonsense. SOAD FOAD!
