"I'll show you my fake ID"

Late eighties, Britpop, male singer, we're talking Aztec Camera kinda territory, but less successful I think. Lyric probably comes from the end of the chorus.

Oh, this is annoying me. I have this track on a tape somewhere, I'm sure of it. It's one of those Scottish bands that never made it. Top of my head, I'm thinking it's the Indian Givers, but I shall drag out my "taped off Radio Scotland in 1988" sort of tapes and see if I can find out.

ailsa could be right, the Indian Givers did have a single called "Fake ID". can't remember how it went though (i suspect i'm quite lucky)

I would like to say it's from the answer song to "Stray Cat Blues," but I am unaware if such a song exists.

If the Indian Givers definitely had a single called Fake ID, then that's who I am thinking of (there are a whole bunch of unsung bands from around that time all lumped together in my head, and I can't always remember who did what though I remember all the songs and all the bands, mostly because I never bought stuff, I just taped them off the radio and wrote things down in notebooks)

yeah - discogs.com lists "fake ID" as a song on their only LP.
