I think Wayne Kramer has it written in his contract that the gets to put a cover of "The Harder They Come" on every record he does.

The film was Harry Smith's favorite movie of all time. He'd see it almost every weekend in the late '80s/ early '90s at a theatre up in Times Square that showed it I think? Perhaps I am exaggerating how often it played.

One of the great regrets of my life is turning down the opportunity to see the film with Harry and a group of folks one weekend ca. 1989/ '90, as I had a date with this girl instead... I forget the girl now...

My pal Paul worked for Hanuman Books, you know those amazing little teensy tinesy books that were by the register in small bookshops in the mid-late '80s? And our mutual friend Raymond edited them. Anyway, Raymond was helping Harry out while Harry was back in the Chelsea, hooking him up with philanthropists like Jerry Garcia who heard Harry needed $$ so he gave him $10K which was supposedly gone in one month(!) -- not much more to the story. Well, nothing else to the story, I just was a 'tard not to have gone and hung out with them!

This film's in my list of 14 impeccable films, and yet crazy ass me hasn't picked up the wonderful wonderful soundtrack. *le sigh*

... And suddenly Ian Riese-Moraine is a naked man saying, 'Volvo! Volvo!' (Easte, Tuesday, 17 May 2005 00:53 (twenty years ago)

"Johnny Too Bad" is (often, especiall when i'm listening to it) my favorite song of all time, and "Pressure Drop" is up there, too.

There's a VERY informative, profound thread started by myself that digs deep to find the correct alphabetical position of this record in your collection..
