the new brandy single is glitch-hop.

apparently we talked about this already. i was unaware. if so (and if further discussion is deemed unnecessary), someone tell me the name of the new toya single, because it sounded very good on the radio.

It's the worst RnB tune I've heard in quite a while.

The beats sounded like someone fiddling about with the central locking and the verses were dull, dull, dull..

Michael, what are you talking about?! That song is brrrilliant! I couldn't keep my head from bobbing, it was almost Pavlovian...

It's a little annoying to hear Jerkins throw in a bunch of cool production tricks during the last 30 seconds of many of his songs. These are the best parts, he shouldn't be so afraid.

Honda is OTM - the last 30 seconds or so of "That's Why I Wanna Fight" by Mya (quite similar to Brandy's song but a bit more tuneful 'n' interesting) are some of the most awesomely bizarre in R&B... why does he use his *truly* brilliant moments so wastefully?

As for "What About Us" - I like it, but the impact is a bit diluted by the fact that this time R&B is just following hip hop. Surely "What About Us" != glitch-hop, but rather the hip-house of Lil' Kim's "How Many Licks" or Missy's "4 My People", or even Basement Jaxx's "Get Me Off" (originally penned for Janet Jackson).

(Basement Jaxx could do wonders by bootlegging "What About Us" with something appropriate)

Also, Brandy is such a damp cloth. I don't mind personality devoid R&B, but only if it comes from totally unknown divas who I can pretend are secretly androids. In contrast, Brandy started out with a pleasant (if perhaps overly perky) personality but has become less interesting with each release, even as the sonic get more outrageous.

but what's the name of the new toya single? I'll have to inspect "what about us" a little closer (i've only heard it once), cause i've listened to "get me off" about 25 times in the past week and i didn't hear the parallels.
