A nearly weekly ritual with some of my friends several years ago was to watch this Japanese sub-titled show called "Hit Parade" (on the local international UHF channel), where the top hits would be counted down and then karaoked by other pop artists.

One of the perks of the shows was this quirky veneration of THIS LARGE INFLATABLE FISH that kicked the show off. The main host was this suave looking guy with THE BIG MICROPHONE. Namie Akura, S-Map, and others were regulars on the show.

Never heard of it.. whats it like? The show I'm familiar with is HEYHEYHEY which does a good talkshow/performance thing with the J-pop/ J-rock crowd. It also leads one to believe that girls are the only music fans in Japan.

It passes on NHK normally are teen-pop girls or hair metal guys they do interviews and play. Its not really VERY good but there are some surprises here and there like whiteberry. I have this feeling that the people who go there are really not that famous although the crowd is really big
