Didn't that one White Stripes song take something from Citizen Kane? But it's not exactly a "show tune" I guess...

Hardly contemporary, but Alice Cooper managed to incorporate West Side Story's "Jet Song" into three different originals.

Yeah, he did. He also namechecked the WSS soundtrack (or cast album) in Mojo's Last Night a Record Saved My Life column a year or two back.

I was mentioning to a friend the other night that I was surprised more musicals hadn't been raided for hip-hop choruses. Some good songs out there.

And I still think some noise band or something should pick up on "Gotta Stop That Man" from "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying."

Doesn't "The Union Forever" only take lyrics from _Citizen Kane_, rather than any kind of hook?

PJ Harvey's "Sheela-Na-Gig" repurposes lyrics from South Pacific.

Dunno if this counts, but didn't Aphex sample Julie Andews during the speaking part of Do Re Mi?

Good one, Curt: "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair" is the tune.
