Feeder's contribution to human evolution

i know this may seem in awfully bad taste given recent events, but i've just sat in stunned silence through one of their videos and all i can think was: I CANNOT THINK OF ONE SINGLE REEDEMING QUALITY THIS BAND MAY POSSESS.

not one. and i mean it, i even liked senseless things.

At least their name was appropriate. Or maybe 'Useless Eater' would've been better

dave q, Monday, 28 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

They covered "Can't stand losing you" by the Police on the b-side of a recent single. You know, that cheery little number about a guy threatening to top hisself if his girlfriend doesn't move to Wales with him. Sorry, if she splits up with him. Still - SPOOKY WOO!

misterjones, Monday, 28 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

someone tell me something good about Feeder. i don't want to be the bad guy here..

Wyndham Earl, Monday, 28 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

One of them has got a CD PLAYER PLAYER PLAYER PLAYER PLAYER PLAYER.

And what (barring the obvious) was wrong with the Senseless Things?

Pete, Monday, 28 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Barring "the obvious" from a discussion of the Senseless Things is like barring any mention of fruit from a discussion about apples.

Tim, Monday, 28 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Feeder have/had no redeeming qualities whatsoever. They're one of those bands that at festivals are on about 2pm on the main stage...4EVA!

DG, Monday, 28 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oh come on, they're great for uncomplicated small town teenagers. I don't see why that should be seen as patronising, by the way.

N., Monday, 28 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

aw come on, none of you are biting. Look Feeder's drummer just killed himself, right, cos of his girlf not wanting to move to Wales, and the B Side to their LAST single was Can't stand losing you by the Police. That's scary. Do you think he suggested it?

misterjones, Monday, 28 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

But loads of pop songs are based around the idea of not being able to cope with losing someone.

N., Monday, 28 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Thats even scarier.

Ronan, Monday, 28 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I've already done all the nasty Feeder suicide remarks on another board, they've lost their novelty.

DG, Monday, 28 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

But CSLY is explicitly about suicide. It has the word suicide in the third verse "I guess you'd call it suicide/but I'm too full to swallow my pride". And then the drummer hangs himself.

misterjones, Monday, 28 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

If you play their last single forwards theres a message that says "WE ARE FUCKING SHIT AND HAVE NO TALENT WHATSOEVER"

Could that be something to do with it?

Ronan, Monday, 28 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

could be, 'spose. I think there's a lot of bands using the same "forward-masking" technique, and the same message too.

misterjones, Monday, 28 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Can't wait for Feeder fans doing google searches to find *this*

Ned Raggett, Monday, 28 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I think you are suffering from too much irony, or an overwillingness to laugh at the misfortunes of others. If Gale ever looked at ILM you wouldn't act like such smartarses.

I've never heard anything by Feeder.

DV, Monday, 28 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You're a very lucky man. Who's being ironic?

DG, Monday, 28 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

come on now, that video with lots of bedroom Feeder wannabe's and fans - doesn't it just make you feel all glowy - admit it... other than that, they're pretty worthless

rm, Monday, 28 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Something could be posted about the band's name in relation to a certain object that grows from the ground, but this poster is neither tasteless nor insensitive enough, so it shall be left to someone else, should they feel the need...

Andy K, Monday, 28 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The lead singer needs a barbed wire baseball bat to the face or ten.

i have absolutely no idea what you are on about you strange little man.

the only thing that occurs is the bottom feeder thing, which would just be too obvious and unfunny.

HUMOUR IS SHIT.

A hint: Think of a Belly single.

That's me. What was their big hit in the US again?

Keiko, Monday, 28 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Feeder had a US hit?

Ned Raggett, Monday, 28 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I just checked out Feeder's site. Yup, right there on the front page...

They're certainly the most Orange County lookin' Welsh band ever.

Brian MacDonald, Monday, 28 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I thought they did. On a soundtrack to a bad teen film?

Keiko, Tuesday, 29 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)
