A group of remixers have got together and remixed Primal Scream's "Screamadelica" and have made it available via the web. Titled "Screamixadelica" it also features a bonus track in the form of the track "Screamadelica" which was only available on the Dixie Narco EP.
The Project page states:
There's no reason for this. How do you improve upon perfection? You don't. We don't pretend to think this comes close to the Scream's masterpiece, but then nothing else does. So what primalscreamremixed.com offers is a different spin, moving from chill through dub via glitch to drum & bass. Not a million miles away from the eclecticism of the source.
It's only available as a bit torrent file at present and the remixers would like a donation to charity if you enjoy the album.

ROFL. If I did this, I'd just strip all the vocals off.

like what they've done to the logo and the cover as well (although some of the big pixels are several pixels bigger than others)

i have just a quick question, and this seems like a reasonable thread to ask it.
are "slip inside this house" and "don't fight it, feel it" acid house? if they are, it's the electronic bass sound on both that makes them so, right? i need to hear a lot more things like those songs. maybe i need to hear 'white room' by the klf. . . ?
i've tried to figure this out for myself, but, i don't know, i haven't been able to. i'm sure this a silly question, but, please, and thank you.

no they're not acid house. acid house is primarily characterised by the sound of the Roland TB-303 which no Primal Scream song features.

ah, alright. what sound does that thing make (i might recognise it).
what else is like those primal scream songs, if anybody knows?
― andi, Thursday, 23 August 2007 10:27 (eighteen years ago)
quintessential acid house: phuture, 'acid trax'. many (though not all) things on this. you'll know the sound when you hear it, it's a "squelchy" bass sound for want of a better description.
'don't fight it feel it' is just a straight house track, maybe a bit slower than what was getting play at the time but similar to earlier chicago house tracks. a bunch of things sound like this - this, this, tons more.

also A Guy Called Gerald's "Voodoo Ray" and 808 State's "Pacific" (more essential acid house)

I would say both "slip inside" and "don't fight it" use sampler loops for the bass. They might actually be bass guitar through effects, but there's no standout signature sound from any particular synth. for soundalikes, check out Baby Ford's BFORD9 or h. mondays remixes, obv.

there should also be a distinction between US acid and UK acid
― sexyDancer, Thursday, 23 August 2007 17:27 (eighteen years ago)
just as there's a distinction between US garage and UK garage...(and US glam/UK glam, for that matter)...

still very curious to know what's a lot like either of those primal songs, though.

Is this still available anywhere? If so, where?
