The Politics of the reformed Eagles

Caught the NBC special of The Eagles concert last night, which got me to thinking. I remember when they had initially reformed (in the late 90s?), Don Felder was originally with them, but soon afterwards, he wasn't. Does anybody know the circumstances behind this, and why he wasn't ousted? Mutual "artistic differences" (ha ha ha)? The other 4 wanted the $$ all to themselves? Felder couldn't stand the shamelessness of it all?

By the way, wow, Joe Walsh when he talks sounds like he's lucky to still be alive...or has he always talked like that? But his singing/playing is remarkably untouched.
