No thread for forgotten 90's neoskapunks Goldfinger?

My iTunes here at the office just randomly selected "Here In Your Bedroom," and damn if I didn't really enjoy it.

I know they gradually faded into the background and that the lead gent now writes songs for Ashlee Simpson and her vile ilk, but Goldfinger really weren't that bad, were they? I saw them at Irving Plaza at one point, and they were entirely entertaining.

Yer thoughts?

...I suppose I did have worse hernias, but that's not saying much.

Horrible now, but somewhat enjoyable at the time. However, I will never forgive them for breaking the Jawbreaker breakup news.

Brake, brake, brake.

ALEX HOW COULD YOU?!?!?!?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 3 June 2005 03:51 (twenty years ago)

It wasn't a bad song. But it's not as good as "Lala" by Ashlee Simpson (vile as she is).

goldfinger MAY have been a SMIDGEN better than the likes of less than jake or reel big fish -- but what does THAT say?!?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 3 June 2005 03:53 (twenty years ago)

I was like 15, Cuddley.

Community Cornerstone (deangulberry), Friday, 3 June 2005 04:24 (twenty years ago)

Go listen to GG.

Community Cornerstone (deangulberry), Friday, 3 June 2005 04:33 (twenty years ago)

GG never shat out anything as stinky as anything on a goldfinger record.

I liked the video for whatever the second song on that album was. They were in space or some shit, and the launch code for the ship was "PINFIELD"

they sucked then, they still suck. only advantage to liking 90's ska-punk: chicks were into it.

I've got a very slight amount of love for "Here in Your Bedroom" and "This Lonely Place," but I'd be pretty okay if I never heard them again.

"The Impression That I Get" >> "Sell Out" >>>>> "Here in Your Bedroom"

I so did not expect this to be Alex. People really enjoyed this band? Am I to presume they did something quote-unquote "better" before their hit?

Who sand "Sell Out"?

Reel Big Fish.

goldfinger was my favorite band for most of the teenage years. which left me in that tight spot where the neither the punks nor the hip kids dished out much respect. still think the first two albums are gold. and they did nothing (at all really) before their hit.

MY ROOMATE LOVES THIS BAND.

He asked me to go see them at the glass house in pomona. I told him I'd rather die.

Who did the "99 Red Balloons" cover? Goldfinger or Powderfinger? Was there even a band called Powderfinger or has my memory made them up?
