Rubbish....
I will never play your CD because I will never find it. You are too thin.

I hate the format because I can't usually get the CD out.

they look nice though...

I'm not a fan of the carboard covers either.

What really pisses me off are those damn plastic sleeves on the Eno reissues. I couldn't even get the album out of the Apollo sleeve without ripping it apart. Bah!

I hate those "Mini Vinyl Replica" Cd Covers. you know the ones. They're bigger than regular CD cases therefore, my Blur Cd collection sits incomplete in my Cd rack while "13" sits all on it's toblerone on top of the rack. Drives me mad.

Mitch Hedberg lives!

they get all yukky and nigzy at the sides, like old LPs, i don't like that. if i wanted a cardboard sleeve i'd buy a fucking LP. plus alot of them don't fit in to standard cd racks...
no rack fittage = mess/

It would be nice if ALL CDs were mini gatefolds with the standard spine width. The recent Alice Coltrane reissues are like that, as well as a few Simple Minds reissues. Again though, getting them out is a bit of an annoyance. Hmm....

yeah it would be nice if all cd cases were like this.
it would look neat and you could browse them like little lp's.

promo hell unveiled.

I like cardboard digipaks BECAUSE they degrade like old LP covers.

Plus they don't crack and splinter like the standard 'jewel case', which has to be one of the worst pieces of mass-produced industrial design ever. Hinges break, spiders splinter into sharp spurs - A damaged one can even fuck up your CD for you.

Soukesian, Sunday, 5 June 2005 09:07 (twenty years ago)

yeah but when the middle clamp loses a tooth the whole thing is fucked, at least with the plastic ones the cd will still stay IN the case when that happens and you can easily switch the black thing with the clamp. Cardboard would be wonderful if not for that but it's not that way and it ain't wonderful. blaaahhhh

tremendoid (tremendoid), Sunday, 5 June 2005 09:21 (twenty years ago)

Good point, though I haven't had that happen yet. I still say cardboard looks better. One saving grace of the plastic jewel case is that it can make home-made covers for CDR look at least as good as the real thing.

Soukesian, Sunday, 5 June 2005 09:26 (twenty years ago)

yeah I even put back inserts on mine when I swap with near strangers, they must think "what a dildo" but I'd lose sleep if I didn't. I don't tell them that part.
