'Cuz I really want to see 'em.

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Sunday, 5 June 2005 17:55 (twenty years ago)

Murphy played a solo show here in Seattle right after and closed the Cochella set with the words "now you can say you were there", so I'm led to believe that they won't be doing a regular tour.

Anthony Lombardi (CCPO), Sunday, 5 June 2005 17:57 (twenty years ago)

Shucks.

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Sunday, 5 June 2005 17:58 (twenty years ago)

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Saturday, 9 July 2005 01:15 (twenty years ago)

Haha, I saw Murphy walking around at Coachella and he looked alright too.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Saturday, 9 July 2005 01:32 (twenty years ago)

I couldn't go see Peter Murphy because my mom wouldn't let me :(

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Saturday, 9 July 2005 02:11 (twenty years ago)

Don't worry. I decided not to go because it was on a weeknight & I had to work the next day. At least you get to blame your mom...me, I have only myself to blame.

VegemiteGrrl (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 9 July 2005 02:13 (twenty years ago)

Oh my God! I have never seen this band and will not miss this show. Saturday Night in Hollywood has my name written all over it.

Good info like always ILM.

Except it croons that Bela is undead.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Sunday, 24 July 2005 17:11 (twenty years ago)

i saw "the hunger" for the first time last night and the opening sequence made me think of this thread.

Fetchboy (Felcher), Sunday, 24 July 2005 17:19 (twenty years ago)

bahahaha The Hunger!!

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Sunday, 24 July 2005 17:31 (twenty years ago)

Fantastic news if they are. Saw them when they reformed for a few dates in ('98? '99?) and they were every bit as magic as I'd remembered them being the first time 'round. Couldn't understand why they only did so few dates then.

Where are the bloody UK dates, you exquisite corpses?!?

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Friday, 12 August 2005 13:24 (twenty years ago)

I know! Kaliflwr in NYC just emailed me excitedly about this, this morning!

Come on, play in London! I promised to fly her to the UK to see them with me.

Wow, though. David J hasn't changed in 20 years. He was my first indie pop star crush.

Alce Tea-Skirt (kate), Friday, 12 August 2005 13:36 (twenty years ago)

I must look into these shows.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 12 August 2005 14:17 (twenty years ago)

Nedmond, I must counsel you in the strongest possible terms, that you should not merely "look into these shows" you should most definitely attend at least one of them!

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Friday, 12 August 2005 14:21 (twenty years ago)

*bows* Good sir, I caught the 1998 reunion tour four times. If anything I am afeared that these new shows just can't live up to those, but based on the reports of Coachella I apparently shouldn't fret at all.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 12 August 2005 14:22 (twenty years ago)

My humble and abject apologies for having ever doubted your bona fides, Nedward.

Having seen the original incarnation quite a few times I had similar reservations myself regarding the 1998 reunion - but having been lucky enough to see them then; and finding that my fears were proved groundless on that occasion; I would certainly not presume to doubt them again.

I don't know why I ever doubted them at all to be honest - after all, it's not as if they're going to grow old or anything, is it?

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Friday, 12 August 2005 14:37 (twenty years ago)

maybe by sleeping in my '98 tour t-shirt for twenty days straight made this tour happen!

ken taylrr (ken taylrr), Friday, 12 August 2005 15:36 (twenty years ago)

i might get to see the ny shows for free! maybe. i hope, anyways.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 12 August 2005 15:37 (twenty years ago)

Just can't seem to summon up the enthusiasm for this. The '98 reunion was great, a wonderful once-in-lifetime thing. I don't feel the need for another.

The Spiderwebbed Wilderness (Bimble...), Friday, 12 August 2005 19:34 (twenty years ago)

My father saw the '98 reunion in Philadelphia. I'm tempted to go to the Atlanta one, since I actually know people there I can stay with who might be interested in going.

Ian Riese-Moraine: a casualty of social estrangement. (Eastern Mantra), Friday, 12 August 2005 20:24 (twenty years ago)

LA presale about to start. (I'm going for the Saturday show.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 8 September 2005 15:58 (twenty years ago)

They're playing Seattle October 21st at the Paramount.. there must be a tour dates page, right?

donut Get Behind Me Carbon Dioxide (donut), Thursday, 8 September 2005 16:08 (twenty years ago)

Should be at the revived official site http://www.bauhausmusik.com

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 8 September 2005 16:11 (twenty years ago)

That's probably the one I missed most so you can be a bit smug even if you didn't get to sing OH TO BE THE CREAM :-)

Onimo (GerryNemo), Monday, 30 January 2006 01:35 (twenty years ago)

Pfft. "World tour", Murphy? WORLD TOUR? COME DOWN HERE AND SAY THAT YA SHITS!

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 30 January 2006 03:34 (twenty years ago)

I was at Glasgow too. Awesome. Had forgotten quite how much I loved 'em.

Murphy on top form, carried off the receding hairline in style, looking like a dissipated aristocrat. Couldn't believe he got a lit fag chucked at him at the beginning of 'Bela . .' Thought he was about to walk off for a second. Why would someone pay a £20 ticket to do that?

Soukesian, Monday, 30 January 2006 08:15 (twenty years ago)

I was at Birmingham tonight. Absolutely fantastic. Not entirely sure about Murphy's re-appearance for the 2nd encore wearing a velvet smoking jacket (Cue Rob Newman "hello, little girl") quips, but otherwise marvellous.

Setlist pretty much as above, except the addition of Joy Divisions's "Transmission", complete with PM's "get that fly away from my head" spastic dancing at the end of the first encore.

"Dark Entries" was so heavy my friend suggested it could've been Ministry. London audiences, yer in for a treat.

Si.C@rter (SiC@rter), Friday, 3 February 2006 01:57 (twenty years ago)

except the addition of Joy Divisions's "Transmission"

^$%@%$!#^$#!@^%#!%@#$%@#$!$#@!$@#!$#@!$@#

FUCK YOU LUCKY BASTARDSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Anyway, I'm calm now.

No I'm not. FUCK YOU!

*coughs, settles down*

YSI immediately. Anyone. Anywhere.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 3 February 2006 02:06 (twenty years ago)

they did 'transmission' in dublin too apparently. i wonder why we weren't treated to it in glasgow? they also got two more encores in dublin but then, as you can't smoke there, it was unlikely pete murphy had a lit fag thrown at him and went in a strop.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Friday, 3 February 2006 02:10 (twenty years ago)

Wow, I always wondered what it would take to send Ned into spasm of Alex inNYC-style rage! And now I know ;)

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 3 February 2006 02:23 (twenty years ago)

Well, it's not really rage per se. Just deep-seated envy.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 3 February 2006 02:26 (twenty years ago)

Envy? Pshaw. Embrace the rage, Ned. Join the dark side...

VegemiteGrrl (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 3 February 2006 03:05 (twenty years ago)

Somehow I feel Australian women are goading me on from around the globe. I have this hunch.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 3 February 2006 03:11 (twenty years ago)

Ned won't be satisfied until Bauhaus croons in his bedroom their entire discgraphy as well as all of Dead Can Dance's and Joy Division's and Siouxsie's. Limited seating: ticket price to be determined.

Dom iNut (donut), Friday, 3 February 2006 03:15 (twenty years ago)

Price: your ass. Er, wait, I'm confusing situations again.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 3 February 2006 03:16 (twenty years ago)

Is there something you're not telling us Ned? ;)

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 3 February 2006 04:07 (twenty years ago)

My mind is an open book! Unfortunately most of the pages are black type on black paper.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 3 February 2006 04:10 (twenty years ago)

And you call ME a goth. HUH! The nerve ;P

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 3 February 2006 06:21 (twenty years ago)

Silence, la belle dame sans merci.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 3 February 2006 06:38 (twenty years ago)

Blimey. Sorry about that Ned, I didn't realise it'd have that effect ;)

Si_C, Friday, 3 February 2006 09:33 (twenty years ago)

So, erm, tonight.

Doors say 7pm. Should we get there that early, if they really are going on when they say they're going on, or is that a Brixton Nonsense?

The Late Fear And The Potato Fear (kate), Friday, 3 February 2006 12:49 (twenty years ago)

At Birmingham the posters said Bauhaus on stage @ 8.30, which was just about correct.

Si.C@rter (SiC@rter), Friday, 3 February 2006 17:26 (twenty years ago)

Hah, we got a Transmission / St Vitus Dance medley here in Brussels. Oh, and 'All we ever wanted', dedicated to all those who were at Plan K. Another fine day on this little earth...

Si.C@rter - you rock!

stirmonster (stirmonster), Monday, 6 February 2006 05:25 (twenty years ago)

Yes! The Transmission/St. Vitus Dance mashup! That was the best thing ever!!!!

And "All We Ever Wanted" which reduced Suzy and I to blubbering babies. I didn't think I still had it in me to have a song make me cry.

It's been years since I listened to a Bauhaus record (they're all on vinyl, back at my mum's house) but still, years later, I know every song word for word. I didn't realise - or had forgotten - how much of a shaping influence they had been on my life. The in-jokes, the references, the aesthetic...

And the "costume malfunction" during Ziggy Stardust which turned into the BEST!!! THING!!!! EVAH!!!!

David J and his monster riff basslines. The man still hath no eyebrows and no lips to speak of, but the spotlights caught the back of his glasses and I managed to see his eyes. Once.

Uuuuhhhhhhh... yeah. And sorry, I can't stop saying this:

BOW TO ME, I AM THE PINEAPPLE GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't register for dimeadozen because they already have 75000 (or whatever arbitrary figure it was) users.

I'm sharing it on slsk now - user name Pwn66. The MP3's are converted from FLAC and might need a bit of EQ-ing.

Saw them yesterday in Lokeren (Belgium, 10 day festival), just after The Cramps, dunno, I was a little underwhelmed by both.

Bauhaus only played for about an hour, ten minutes of which they weren't on stage ("we've lost a lot of the power here on stage, we'll be back when it's fixed. if not, goodnight." For the encore, David said they were playing the last two songs to make up for the delay (and that they were probably playing them for the last time ever) - it was Telegram Sam and Ziggy Stardust.
