i have a bit of both but need to complete my collection and dont know whether to shell out a little more for original LPs which will likely not get played as much but be recorded onto tape or CDs which will get played but might sound all digitally perfect and crisp and shiny but not like i want the ramones (or anyone, really) to actually sound.

Remastered edtions come with extra stuff on'em, if that sort've thing matters to ya.

That said, as you rightly pointed out, does one need to hear pithy sonic nuances on Ramones records that were otherwise lost on the original recordings? I mean, it's like they're Philip Glass or somebody.

actually, i need that vinyl pith.

The CDs sound great, so I say CDs. But if you don't have the cash, I bet you can complete your collection on vinyl for the cost of just one or two of the discs.

(and yes, there was a surprising deal of nuance - acoustic guitars, background vocals, etc. - that I never noticed before I heard the remastered discs)

The remastered CDs definitely sound better than the All The Stuff And More CDs I replaced. Especially the 1st album. I think they did a really good job on them, so I'd go for the CDs. BUT I haven't heard the original LPs.

The bonus tracks are not all essential, but I prefer a couple of the demos to the album versions, plus on Rocket To Russia you get Slug, which is one of their best songs!!

twelve years pass...

Fancy remaster of Leave Home coming out.

Remastered album - fine.

The stuff on CD2 sounds cool- rough mixes/demos and a bunch of alternative versions and instrumentals.

The 2017 remix of the whole album sounds like something to be afraid of.

The live concert is one that's been around for ages and isn't as good as other bootlegs etc from that time.
