This pair turned up some time towards the end of last decade and produced a quite marvellous record called "Shackles".. and then I never heard anything from them after that. Apparently, they did lots more - but what's it like? Do you know??

It was gospel, I suppose, with a whole lot of dance chucked in. It still sounds great now - a real hands in the air song, even if it is about how they wish things weren't quite so crap and they could become happier and PRAISE THE LORD.

Yes, I'm reduced to answering my own thread.

Is that the one subtitled "(Praise You)"? Anyway, it's a great single. For a moment there they could've given Destiny's a run for their money.

I think part of the problem is it came late at the end of the big vocoder wave that Cher's "Believe" was part of, and maybe got lost a bot. I thought it was a great single though.

This still gets played all the time everywhere.

You guys are talking about Mary Mary like they broke up. They're still very much around - they just played the Chicago Gospel Festival last night. The one album I have is the one pictured above; I saw them on SOUL TRAIN one morning, and immediately liked them 'cause they sound like Destiny's Child if they dropped the showbiz trappings and jumped on the neo-soul (or alternative soul) bandwagon.

My fave song is "Trouble Ain't," because it sounds like an updated Honey Cone (the 70's female group whose biggest hit was "Want Ads").

This makes me want their album lots and lots.

I thought this was going to be about Mary Mary Byker of the the Gaye Bykers on Acid and Apollo 440.
