Rolling Stones, Beatles question/survey/whatever

What are the best albums from each? I've heard it's Revolver and Exile On Main Street. That doesn't mean I believe that, but that doesn't mean I don't either. Just wondering what you thought and why.

Yeah I prefer Sticky fingers and Beggars Banquet to Exile and the best Beatles album is the white album, no contest....its got the lot really.

I'd go for Beggars Banquet and Revolver but it's just a matter of tastes, both bands made plenty of good records!

The Stones : Exile, Beggars Banquet and Between the Buttons - in that order.

The Beatles : The White Album, Revolver and Abbey Road.

Rolling Stones : Exile On Main St. (probably not the best place to start, though). Most underrated: Goat's Head Soup and Steel Wheels.

Beatles : Either Rubber Soul (US version - I don't like "Drive My Car") or Abbey Road. Most underrated: uh, none, I'm afraid.

Taking this question completely the wrong way -- at this point I can't see myself listening to either of them for pleasure or interest ever again. At one point ten years ago I might have said _Rubber Soul_ for the Beatles, I guess. But I'm actually on the verge of selling off all my CDs of theirs outside of one or two exceptions, maybe. Haven't touched them in years and if I miss a song or two, any one of Napster's merry little replacements will do for a fix. ;-)

Why, Ned?

Sicky Fingers has some great tunes, bu honestly, I listen to their 1994 Voodoo Lounge album the most. Its a real good rennaisance of their music. Most people never like the later albums in a band's long history, but I enjoy this one. Favorite Beatles album would have to be Abbey Road for one reason over the others. Come Togethor. Rock and Roll classic.

Why? They don't move me anymore. They've been gathering dust in my CD racks for years now and taking up space that I increasingly need, among other things. I am content not to hear them again, I feel no impulse regarding them. *shrug* I might rip a bunch of mp3s from them before I do sell them just to tuck them away on a hard drive, but even then I doubt I'm going to do much with them beyond that. I'll probably go through and remove a few more things as well, but right now they headed up the list.

Completely honest answer.

I don't own any Beatles records. If I was to buy one it would be Revolver, which has some nice and well-observed McCartney songs and "Tomorrow Never Knows", which I like.

I own Hot Rocks. It's served me well enough. I don't think I've played it for a long time, though. I like the Stones less than the Beatles, though.
