Not guilty on all main counts

jeremy beadle and the damage done, Tuesday, 7 June 2005 08:23 (twenty years ago)

yes, that will be the outcome, though it will not be the truth

lukey (Lukey G), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 08:25 (twenty years ago)

Actually guilty, but found not guilty on all main counts.

dmun drive-in (dmun), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 08:25 (twenty years ago)

Wow, you guys actually know Michael Jackson! I'm impressed.

Jetlag Willy (noodle vague), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 08:28 (twenty years ago)

I'm far from convinced Jackson is guilty. Has there been a single hostile witness who didn't have a financial motive? In any case, based on the prosecution's case I'd be astonished if the jury returned a "guilty" verdict, but they will probably do some kind of wrist-slapping over the alcohol business, if the judge lets them.

jeremy beadle and the damage done, Tuesday, 7 June 2005 08:35 (twenty years ago)

Watch. If the jury moonwalk into the court to deliver their verdict....

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 08:36 (twenty years ago)

im not convinced theres actually been that much damning evidence.

titchyschneider (titchyschneider), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 08:46 (twenty years ago)

"MICHAEL! I was such a big fan of yours growin' up. Be a pleasure to pound you in the ass"

Not Guilty though.

Cunga (Cunga), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 09:16 (twenty years ago)

Not guilty seems very likely after what I've read in the press from this case.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 09:19 (twenty years ago)

guilty, kill himself before jailtime

anthony easton (anthony), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 10:20 (twenty years ago)

What it should be: Guilty
What it will be: a wrist-slap.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 10:53 (twenty years ago)

I say they should imprison all those idiots who stand about outside the courtroom with banners and shit and shout "Michael we love you!" And throw away the key.

Vicious Cop Kills Gentle Fool (Dada), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 10:54 (twenty years ago)

Do you seriously think that the evidence proves his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt? Least credible witnesses evah.

Jetlag Willy (noodle vague), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 11:02 (twenty years ago)

I agree, I haven't seen anything particularly credible in the way of witnesses. I think the only real chance of a conviction over anything is for 'supply of liquor to a minor'.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 11:04 (twenty years ago)

How do any of us have any clue how credible the witnesses were. None of us heard their testimony.

Super Cub (Debito), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 11:10 (twenty years ago)

What it should be: Guilty
-- Alex in NYC (vassife...), June 7th, 2005 6:53 AM.

He's not on trial for musical crimes...

L'Histoire d'Eric H. (Eric H.), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 11:11 (twenty years ago)

He should be.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 11:12 (twenty years ago)

apparently some taped interview with the kid got shown to the jury - the yapping lawyers on msnbc last night seemed to think it was pretty damning and credible stuff.

i'm just hoping he goes to jail so we can see pictures of him without the makeup, wigs and prosthetic nose. horror!

el sabor de gene (yournullfame), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 11:13 (twenty years ago)

"Remove the nose, Mr. Jackson, and stand away from the desk..."

Vicious Cop Kills Gentle Fool (Dada), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 11:19 (twenty years ago)

Media Verdict: Nut case.
Career Verdict: Over
Fan Verdict: We Love You Michael!
Financial Verdict: McHammer's new roommate

geyser muffler and a quarter (Dave225), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 11:25 (twenty years ago)

innocent.the truth will prevail.
why/how could someone think he's guilty.

ben the rat, Tuesday, 7 June 2005 11:30 (twenty years ago)

Not guilty for most of the reasons previously stated.

I'm interested to know how fans would deal with it if a guilty verdict is returned:

a. Maintain he is innocent and start a "Free Michael Jackson" campaign?
b. Stop listening to his music?
c. Only listen to albums up to Bad as he probably hadn't began his deviant ways then?
d. Continue to appreciate his music but recognise that he is an incredibly sad and troubled individual?

Bobby M (bobbym), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 12:11 (twenty years ago)

I find it oddly easy to imagine a bunch of young dudes let loose in MJ's mansion w/"NO RULES" getting into his liquor and porn, as it happens. As regards that one conviction. Verdict not guilty, w/rightwing people wringing their hands at the state of the justice system and vowing action

A Viking of Some Note (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 12:21 (twenty years ago)

Viking of Some Note OTM, there'll be much talk of "activist judges" from people who will use any leg-up to get on their hobby horse
