So Snow Patrol and AnLex are playing both?

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 13:48 (twenty years ago)

somebody airlift Damon (and maybe Natasha) out of there and bomb the place.

jonviachicago, Wednesday, 8 June 2005 13:49 (twenty years ago)

No, no, I think Damon can stay there. No, really.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 13:49 (twenty years ago)

th proclaimers are th best thing on there..sad

dan bunnybrain (dan bunnybrain), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 13:50 (twenty years ago)

They've allowed an African to play, whatever next?!?!??!

Vicious Cop Kills Gentle Fool (Dada), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 13:51 (twenty years ago)

Annie & Snowpatrol '05 = Phil Collins '85

I'm just hoping there isn't some sort of mass singalong at the end of the gig. I might have to remove my brain through my left nostril.

hmmm (hmmm), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 13:53 (twenty years ago)

and stamp on it.

hmmm (hmmm), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 13:55 (twenty years ago)

HOLY FUCK THAT IS CRAPTACULAR

do they want the little African kids to die?

Lee F# (fsharp), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 14:07 (twenty years ago)

NEEDS MORE RUNRIG

zappi (joni), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 14:21 (twenty years ago)

What is the view of this lineup amonst the Scottish middle class' collegiate music fans?

Cool Hand Luuke (ex machina), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 14:31 (twenty years ago)

Surprise surprise, this bore no fruit

Mädchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 14:41 (twenty years ago)

About half of those acts are quite fun. Maybe this isn't as bad as I thought.

Jetlag Willy (noodle vague), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 15:13 (twenty years ago)

I won't be going. That won't stop me hearing the bastards through my window.

KeefW (kmw), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 17:21 (twenty years ago)

50 miles away is still too close.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 18:29 (twenty years ago)

You can bet tomorrows Daily Record(and it's readership) love the line up.

Andy Jay, Wednesday, 8 June 2005 18:33 (twenty years ago)

while obviously this lineup would miss the mark with the crowd at Musik on Broughton St I think it isn't too bad. given that they want a wide enough audience to be able to move all the tickets and too attract attention beyond the audience at the gig itself. not my bag but the whole Live8 thing is a bit of a salad bar to me. a few things I care for, lots I wouldn't touch and better stuff coming later (ie the summer festivals).

gspm (gspm), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:07 (twenty years ago)

Er, think we should airlift Youssou out of there before dispatching the bunker busters - dunno about his recent stuff, but in Etoile de Dakar he was responsible for some music of rare genius.

baboon2004 (baboon2004), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:12 (twenty years ago)

which part of Daniel and Natasha Bedingfield, Travis, The Boredoms Texas AND Ronan Keating, The Thrills, Wolf Eyes, Dido, McFly, Damon Albarn, Embrace, Lightning Bolt, Snow Patrol, Wet Wet Wet, The Proclaimers, Alice Coltrane, Jamie Cullum, The Zutons, Einsturzende Neubauten, Youssou N'Dour, Iggy Pop and The Stooges and Annie Lennox isn't too bad?

stirmonster (stirmonster), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:45 (twenty years ago)

The 'AND' part?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:46 (twenty years ago)

the crowd at Musik on Broughton St

Glad to see this gets a crowd! I went along to the Dot Dash thing at the same place (by accident) a month or so ago and I was the only punter!

KeefW (kmw), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:56 (twenty years ago)

I'd pay to see Annie Lennox fronting the Stooges.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:59 (twenty years ago)

Actually, that night could make a good night to do our 15 years in the making plan for a Phil Collins style night starting in Glasgow and ending up in Edinburgh later on (for the later opening hours obviously; not something I think Phil had in mind).

KeefW (kmw), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 21:00 (twenty years ago)

"What is the view of this lineup amonst the Scottish middle class' collegiate music fans?"

Fuckin' shite. A charity bazaar which will be crowned by the presentation of a token concession from Dubya by Vicar Tony. Any troublemakers to be hauled off to the clink under cover of Travis.

Soukesian, Wednesday, 8 June 2005 21:08 (twenty years ago)

I think it is an excellent line-up.

Peter Stringbender (PJ Miller), Thursday, 9 June 2005 06:45 (twenty years ago)

I'm really not looking forward to seeing the photos of Billy Sloan with his arm around these goons.
Has there been a similar event organised for comedians?, I keep having recurring nightmares that there has and it involves Paul Merton
doing improv in a tent.

JohnFoxxsJuno, Thursday, 9 June 2005 07:17 (twenty years ago)

Oh no, if it's COMEDY LIVE8 in Scotland you'll be getting Andy Cameron, Johnny Beattie, Fred Macauley, Mr Abie...all the greats.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 9 June 2005 07:39 (twenty years ago)

I went along to the Dot Dash thing at the same place (by accident) a month or so ago and I was the only punter!

The last one was pretty busy by all accounts.

which part of Daniel and Natasha Bedingfield, Travis, The Boredoms Texas AND Ronan Keating, The Thrills, Wolf Eyes, Dido, McFly, Damon Albarn, Embrace, Lightning Bolt, Snow Patrol, Wet Wet Wet, The Proclaimers, Alice Coltrane, Jamie Cullum, The Zutons, Einsturzende Neubauten, Youssou N'Dour, Iggy Pop and The Stooges and Annie Lennox isn't too bad?

Funnily enough, I don't think any of these bands have been played at musik. The Stooges made it onto the poster one time, at someone else's request, but I don't think they ended up being played. Maybe on Saturday...

hmmm (hmmm), Thursday, 9 June 2005 07:43 (twenty years ago)

The whole farce is a rid neck. I hope Sharleen Spiteri gets trapped in a coal bunker minutes before she's due on stage. I can see the usual cast of worthy gobshites pontificating about how we need to do more. I would DONATE my expertise to Africa for nowt if they could guarantee that Murrayfield was like a ghost town that day.

As for Bob Geldof he should spend mair time at the barbers than giein cheek to the likes of Tony Blair

Sutcliffe in the Derby Inn, Thursday, 9 June 2005 14:41 (twenty years ago)

I think it is an excellent line-up.

No more than we deserve.

KeefW (kmw), Thursday, 9 June 2005 18:54 (twenty years ago)

Erm... not Damon Albarn, according to him this morning.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 10 June 2005 07:14 (twenty years ago)

This line-up is like Hugh Thomson's record collection - said Hugh Thomson being boring yuppie husband character in Irvine Welsh's "Ecstasy" ("Seen the Brothers In Arms CD, honey?...munee for nothin'...colour teeveeeh...")

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 10 June 2005 07:23 (twenty years ago)

I forsee CD giveaway in scottish tabloid weekend prior.
Geldof's definatley rolled a 7 with this line-up, I fully expect
Hugh & Cry to be added any day now. I'm seriously considering hiring an ice cream van to sell Drop The Debt 99's outside and use the money to buy shares in Nike or just simply to mow down folk acting cocky with a mobile phone and 3/4 length shorts.

JohnFoxxsJuno, Friday, 10 June 2005 09:21 (twenty years ago)

Hugh and Cry? If only they were really called that!
