I'm looking to have an artist (Jamaican) riddim type for some music I have. I know they do these comps and everyone rides the same riddim for cash. Anyone have any info on how to contact any singers in Jamaica. What's the normal asking price. Can someone point me in the some sort of direction. Websites? Labels? I now money talks with these artists. I'm lookng for female singers.

'I [k]now money talks with these artists.'

Isn't that somewhat gratuitous?

Ha, name me a group of musicians who are not on speaking terms with money.

Ha, Soul Jazz or Nonesuch should do a field recording comp of hippy drum circles.

Wait, I meant "shouldn't".

There are actually three kinds of musician:

a) self-styled artistes who are hell-bent on dying in poverty
b) wannabes who aren't even serious enough to aspire to a)
c) actual, working professionals who will take any halfway-decent paying gig
that will help feed them and/or their families.

I heard an interview with Diplo awhile back and he was asked if there was any trouble getting Vybz Cartel for the diplo rhythm and he said something like it wasn't, that Vybz was happy to rhyme on anything as long as he got the money..

No idea on how you'd get in touch with the artists, but I'm sure many would be interested if you've got the money.
