It's nice when local landmarks are helpfully rescued and subtly recontextualized by commerce. My favorite local example was the tens-of-millions of dollars tax-subsidized "Denver's Ocean Journey"--a very deeeluxe educational aquarium. When it totally predictably went belly up, it was rescued. By Landry's Restaurants out of TX. To be turned into a seafood restaurant (with rides).
