The Fed Kennedys

So, the, ahem, DEAD KENNEDYS are playing a show in the Seattle area, very soon if not already... well, not Seattle, per se.. but actually this dive bar/steakhouse looking place in this rusty town named Everett about 45 minutes north.

The auto-wreck rubbernecking part of me wants to try to scam a free pass to this show, just to see how much I can stomach. What other types of, um, REUNIONS would trigger the same in you?

For example.. I mean, I'd love to go drive down to go see THE SMITHS play at, um, uh TGIF's down in Tacoma -- but I'm trying to wonder if Carson Daly would do justice as Morrissey's replacement. Meanwhile, while I don't have problems with G.E. Smith's guitarmanship and his Hall & Oates band credentials, I just think his showmanship style would sorta clash with humble stand-off-side-ishness that Marr perfected.

it's not worth it because:

A) Jello Biafra isn't touring WITH THE BAND.

B) The Dead Kennedys suck, as I have stated previously in my thesis film.

the clash-"Cut the Crap" is an example of trying to carry on with a band when you should just call it quits.....really hard to imagine DK with no Biafra
same thing when HR left the bad brains and they recorded that turd called "rise".
just hoping the rage against the machine doesn't turn out the same....

The Stones just haven't been the same since Mick's lips jutted out so far at that one fateful concert in '75 that they wrapped right around and he swallowed himself, forcing the band to replace him with a ro- bot.

I must protest -- Zac leaving removed 1/4 of their problems. Sadly, the other three members have not seen fit to complete the cycle.

really, i'd rather see DK without biafra. he's a huge, huge idiot and i don't understand how people find his "unique brand of social commentary" in any way unique or insightful. plus his voice is god awful ...

hey maybe DK should hire HR from bad brains ... i saw bad brains a couple of months ago and apparently they don't all hate each other so much anymore. ultimately the show was dire and emotionless. they played well but it was obvious they didn't really really want to be doing it.

at least they played 'sailin' on' as soon as i got in the venue.
