a spin off of all the other bowie/prince posts and that one rundgren/prince post.... im not a fan of either but i would have to give it to bowie, just because he was more famous, more influential, had better clothes and hair, probably had better groupies, rocked harder, sure he wasnt a one-man band genius like rundgren, but at least he had some discipline and wasnt so erratic and stayed more consistent.

Todd for me, but I'm *way* in the minority.

todd's more interesting to think about 'cause he hasn't been thought about or expounded on as much but in reality bowie made better records, at least after 1973 ('hunky dory' vs. 'something/anything' might be a good matchup).

Todd for me too. Having said that, I love Bowie, and always will. Granted, Todd was more erratic, but for my money, less detached and more human and more involving for me, so I'm more often compelled to throw a Todd album on the hi-fi, even if his classic period isn't nearly approaching Bowie's in terms of length.

Please. Todd's cool, but he's not even in the same zip code as Bowie.

Todd Rundgren is not at all bad, but putting him up against Bowie is no fair. Rundgren has only managed one flawless album ("Something/Anything"), whereas most of Bowie's 70s output is really great.
