Does he really say that? I was drunk when I saw this.

Does anyone else think his eyes are starting to look like that "catwoman" plastic surgery disaster's?

"Some would call this a great collection. I call it a bargain."

The best he ever had?

He's just doing this to upset Pete.

Pete Townshend on late-night infomercials: "THE PICTURES WERE ONLY RESTING IN MY ACCOUNT"

You better you bet.

I really honestly thought this thread had something to do with Stephen Hawking and that Time-Life were putting out compilations of his favourite rock songs (cue thread?)

"she should've worn Odo...Old Spice"

Cunga (Cunga), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:55 (twenty years ago)

almost as much fun as Riki Rachtman selling the 80's/metal comps on infomercials...

"MON-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY RAIN OVER MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"

Brooker Buckingham (Brooker B), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 18:25 (twenty years ago)

The one with Ralph Emery hawking classic country is really good for repeat viewings, even if the intro to "Mama Tried" gets overplayed.

I love how they slow-down/speed-up some of the vintage clips of the artists singing to get their lips in synch with the recorded song that's playing.

Haven't seen the Roger Daltry yet. I hope that young musicians learn two lessons from this: Don't ever include the words "Hope I die before I get old" in a song, and never name one of your albums SELL OUT.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Friday, 17 June 2005 17:34 (twenty years ago)

The best part of the infomercial is when they cut back to Daltrey after a few minutes of clips of ELO and America, and he says something like: "Boy, what an exciting time for music." Kills me everytime.

Yeah, it's priceless. Reminded me of the time Homer Simpson confused The Who with Grand Funk.

Myonga Von Bontee (Myonga Von Bontee), Friday, 17 June 2005 17:51 (twenty years ago)

Ringo Starr also did a Time-Life Comp commercial for '50s rock songs or something like that.

Bobby Vinton (The Polish Prince) did one for '50s and '60s love songs.

John Sebastian (from The Lovin' Spooful and "Welcome Back, Kotter" singer) did one for '60s rock music or something like that.

Regis did one (I don't know why).

Michael Costello (MichaelCostello1), Friday, 17 June 2005 17:59 (twenty years ago)

Reminded me of the time Homer Simpson confused The Who with Grand Funk.

"For more information on Grand Funk, consult your school library!"
