"Michael Jackson is demanding Santa Barbara County prosecutor Tom Sneddon immediately surrender all photos taken by police of the pop star's penis area, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
Jackson and his inner circle believe Sneddon, in revenge for losing the case, may somehow leak the images of Jackson's genitalia to the public.
"Why will you not end this, Mr. Sneddon, once and for all?" a top Jackson insider asked late Tuesday. "Do you enjoy them?"
The insider claims all legal recourse will be pursued to resolve the matter.
Sneddon ordered the sex organ photographed on Christmas Eve 1993. And at trail, Sneddon asked the judge for permission to put into evidence the photos of Michael Jackson's "splotchy" penis. Permission was denied.
Sneddon was not avaliable for comment."

The estate of Michael Jackson has agreed the biggest recording deal in history, worth more than $200m (£133m), with Sony Music, US reports say.The deal reportedly involves 10 album projects over seven years - including one of previously unreleased material.

link? i don't get it. ten projects, only one of which is unreleased material. so are the rest just more re-packages of old material? i can't see sony paying such a high amount for that.

― aloha darkness my old friend (katherine), Friday, 24 August 2018 14:29 (seven years ago)
btw this story was incredibly plausible from the beginning, Sony would absolutely fake MJ tracks given the amount of demand there was in 2010. they do this with Hendrix too don't they?
― frogbs, Friday, 24 August 2018 14:36 (seven years ago)
they do??? what with like velvet turner tracks?
― brimstead, Friday, 24 August 2018 14:38 (seven years ago)
velvert
that "Rare Hendrix" comp that came out in '72, that later had to have "[fake]" appended to most of the tracks
― frogbs, Friday, 24 August 2018 14:40 (seven years ago)
Was Hendrix stuff actually faked? Wasn't it mostly old pre-'66 recordings (usually with Curtis Knight) packaged to make it look like Experience-era material?
― Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Friday, 24 August 2018 14:44 (seven years ago)
some of, like, Cry Of Love etc. had posthumous overdubs iirc?
― sleeve, Friday, 24 August 2018 14:46 (seven years ago)
True, up through the mid-'90s there were new overdubs on Hendrix material (e.g., the drummer for the Knack playing on First Rays of the New Rising Sun). But iirc, overdubs were identified as such at the time on the record jackets (not 100% certain about that).
― Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Friday, 24 August 2018 14:50 (seven years ago)
Sorry, I was wrong -- Bruce Gary (Knack drummer) overdubbed drum tracks on 1995's Voodoo Soup. On one song, he replaced a Mitch Mitchell part, which is...pointless and weird.
― Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Friday, 24 August 2018 14:52 (seven years ago)
the Hendrix stuff is also crazy. I’m still not even sure which posthumous releases of his are free and clear of hasty overdubbing. I didn’t even know The Cry Of Love had them. I knew that War Heroes, Midnight Lightning, and Crash Landing used that tactic. I actually like most of them, though. The playing from Hendrix remains ill.

afaik, First Rays of the New Rising Sun, released in 1997, is the only official studio release free of posthumous overdubs.
― Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Friday, 24 August 2018 17:36 (seven years ago)
apparently sony didn't admit it after all? either that or they're using a trump walkback
― aloha darkness my old friend (katherine), Friday, 24 August 2018 17:37 (seven years ago)
SPIN appended a correction. Seems like it was sloppy reporting. (Sony has nothing to "walk back" if others are erroneously extrapolating from something their lawyer said in court...)

This is correct! The compilation was intended to be the "final word" on those sessions.
― Le Baton Rose (Turrican), Friday, 24 August 2018 17:48 (seven years ago)
what about the Hendrix blues compilation?
i never bought any of the controversial ones from the '90s, I just remember Voodoo Soup having some especially bad lol '90s cover art.
― omar little, Friday, 24 August 2018 18:48 (seven years ago)
Blues was (mostly? all?) unreleased stuff recorded between '66 and '70. No posthumous overdubs.
― Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Friday, 24 August 2018 19:10 (seven years ago)
So I knew there was a forthcoming biopic of Jackson starring his nephew, but apparently its release is being postponed because ... a big chunk of the movie centers on defending Jackson against the child molestation allegations, and the producers didn't realize until recently that an agreement had been made as part of the settlement with the family who filed the lawsuit that they would never be dramatized on film. So now they have to reshoot the whole third act. But why did they think it was a good idea for that to be part of the movie in the first place?
Story here: https://archive.ph/NE4Tn
― jaymc, Friday, 24 January 2025 18:32 (one year ago)
The family's been very aggressive about counteracting all the allegations against Jackson since that HBO documentary came out, so it wouldn't surprise me if it was always a priority to have that be part of the movie and that the only reason they're taking it out is due to unsurmountable legal reasons and the fact that they've already spent a ton of movie on it and can't afford to not release something (i.e. take a complete loss rather than recoup the costs with some kind of release).
― birdistheword, Friday, 24 January 2025 18:48 (one year ago)
wasn't there supposed to be like 8 more posthumous albums after Xscape? whatever happened to those?
