I think a lot of "great" albums are low in replay value. Often what gives them their critical kudos is the immediate impact they have. I prob'ly played
for 2 months solid when it came out, and maybe 3 times since. That's not to say it's not great, just that it gave up its secrets easily. A lot of music's like that, I think it's a totally separate issue to other measures of its goodness.
But I guess this situation is also completely different to different listeners, depending on whether you crave novelty against familiarity or any other position inbetween.
