if so, what do you think? i'm really disappointed by it but dunno if it will be a grower or not. i just fell flat-out in love with cardiology and have nothing like that feeling for this record. i think the main problem is that there are too many crappy vocals on it fo rme to love it.

i didn't even know there was one! what's it like musically, dave?

sadly it's pretty bland. there's a nice ska/rocksteady-influenced track about halfway thru.
it's very jazzy kinda techno soul, but with much less swing, effervescence and pizzazz than cardiology.
i guess you could say les fun.
anyway, it's called hiatus on the horizon and it's out in july, but thus far it seems like a pretty apt title to me - time to stop etc.
i really don't want to be cruel about it, though, because i'm hoping i'll grow to like it.

Not heard the album but love the track Dust.

I've heard one or two tracks off it other than dust.
And saw recloose dj a month or so ago and presumably heard some of it then.. I quite like the stuff I've heard, maybe it'll grow on you.

Dust is brilliant but it's already been overplayed down here in New Zealand.. Think there's a Jeniro Jeneil (sp?) and submariner remixes of it coming out soon though.

four months pass...
I maybe have more time for this than Stelfox but he's kind of right. It's bland and a bit too slick for it's own good, but not totally unpleasant either.

Cardiology is still fantastic. Even though there's scratching on the best track.

strng hlkngtn: what does it mean? (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 22:39 (twenty years ago)

I've seen recloose again since my last post, with his band, and it was pretty boring, lots of long extended funk 'jams'. I'd had about 3 hours sleep and wasn't really in the mood. Crowd were into it though.

recloose had some new vocal jams up on his myspace a little while back that were awesome, continuing on in the vein of "dust" but not a sound alike in any way.

i cant believe there was so much distaste for his second album on here, i love cardiology as much as the next man, but i am pretty sure i prefer hiatus on the horizon. soooo many great tunes, and his style really developed into something more song oriented without losing any of the things that made it interesting. "dust" is probably the best record ive ever bought when it was released in my life, totally amazing from the second the needle hit the record on my white label months before it came out up until this very day.
