Depeche Mode tour announced... Why do I still love them so much??

I know that DM have not been as solid as they used to be, since Violator ultimately, but I have to say that I am sooooo excited about their tour next year! I am also more than a little thrilled about a new disc. I guess it is hard to shake off 20 plus years of devotion to a band. I did like bits and pieces of the past three records but... is this going to be the bow out I am wondering? One last record, possibly a fantastic one, one last tour, and then... history?

Opinions.

Seattle
San Francisco

Plan accordingly.

Why would you want to shake off 20 years of devotion to a band?

Also: what Ned said.

no glasgow/scotland! miserable sassenach fuckers.

i'm not sure i'd go to manchester/london to see them now. unless there's a time-travel deal too, so when i get there it's actually the 101-era tour. or the world violation one. (was that what they called it? it rings a bell.)

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 16 June 2005 14:55 (twenty years ago)

that shaking off statement was kind of rhetorical :) i think i am going to try and get to several of the shows in the states and maybe a couple in the UK.

maybe scotland dates will come later or maybe they just don't sell as well there as they used to. dunno. mmmm yeah, the world violation tour. that was fucking magic!

Dodger Stadium, my friends. It was a treat.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 16 June 2005 16:25 (twenty years ago)

I'll be there! My wife is mad for 'em.

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Thursday, 16 June 2005 16:29 (twenty years ago)

Oh, like Oasis.

Hey, I was there as well. Didn’t Electronic open that show?

I have seen DM too many times because it was always my girlfriend’s favorite band. The girls did change but that band always remained their favorite. The last time I saw DM it was because Primal Scream was the opening band. Next day KROQ said that Primal Scream was doing a surprise show at the Whiskey A Go Go and to just show up there. That show is one of the best shows I have ever seen and they could hardly stand up.

i have still never seen depeche mode. maybe I should this time

kyle (akmonday), Thursday, 16 June 2005 18:08 (twenty years ago)

three months pass...
Yes you should.

Tour sale/presale info. I note to get the presale info you need to pre-buy Playing the Angel on iTunes -- which I actually think is a good idea, though as I'd prefer to actually have the disc version itself for the DVD, a bit frustrating regardless.

I knew Ned had revived this. :-)
