Those places where you have to wait for the upload to begin always make me nervous. I know they're covertly installing all sorts of spyware on my computer.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Thursday, 16 June 2005 22:34 (twenty years ago)

So is this cool or not? I don't want spyware. I use soulseek, for goodness sake

WillS, Thursday, 16 June 2005 23:42 (twenty years ago)

I'm sure it's probably safe to grab these. I'm just spyware paranoid because I had to reformat my harddrive last year to get rid of particularly nasty stuff.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Thursday, 16 June 2005 23:46 (twenty years ago)

it seems fine.

Andrzej B. (Andrzej B.), Friday, 17 June 2005 00:44 (twenty years ago)

how many / which ones of these are Bejar songs?
how many / which ones of these does Neko sing?

Matt Sab (Matt Sab), Friday, 17 June 2005 12:58 (twenty years ago)

This site is CRAZY cool

Hari A$hur$t (Toaster), Friday, 17 June 2005 13:00 (twenty years ago)

If anybody else is worried about malware or whatever, this is up on usenet.

I like it a lot on first listen. 'Use It' is absolutely stunning.

strophic (strophic), Friday, 17 June 2005 13:30 (twenty years ago)

There are more Bejar songs than usual. I'm glad to see he's back with the band, after he sorta quit on Electric Version
On one listen, I'm not that crazy about it. It's slower than the first two albums.

WillS, Friday, 17 June 2005 15:00 (twenty years ago)

I like it tons more than either of the first two, even with the inclusion of more Bejar songs (I don't get that guy's appeal). Maybe they were a little too poppy before?

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Friday, 17 June 2005 15:08 (twenty years ago)

we want more neko!!

ZionTrain (ZionTrain), Friday, 17 June 2005 16:05 (twenty years ago)

Tried it, no spy/malware at all. The short while you have to wait after hitting the 'start download' button is being made up for once you're downloading, it's fast. Thanks for the links.

Gerard (Gerard), Friday, 17 June 2005 16:40 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, I didn't suspect the files themselves were contaminated. I just find the "wait 40-something seconds for your d/l to begin" a little fishy.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Friday, 17 June 2005 16:47 (twenty years ago)

The wait is so you read the banners?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 17 June 2005 17:11 (twenty years ago)

This album is *excellent*.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 17 June 2005 17:12 (twenty years ago)

Very consistent. I don't hear another "Letter from an Occupant" but I haven't fast forwarded through anything like I did with both of their earlier records.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 17 June 2005 17:35 (twenty years ago)

huh, it really doesn't seem to be working for me. The wait's been way, way long.

babyalive (babyalive), Friday, 17 June 2005 17:38 (twenty years ago)

They've probably changed in a way that appeals to me more. It just seems generally more catchy and the energy level is very high. I don't really understand the "it's slower" comment upthread!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 17 June 2005 17:46 (twenty years ago)

These tracks are really dynamite.

POW!

ZionTrain (ZionTrain), Friday, 17 June 2005 19:01 (twenty years ago)

Wow. Their first two albums were growers that have really grown on me, but this one's amazing right out of the gate. Very impressed thus far.

Deric W. Haircare (Deric W. Haircare), Friday, 17 June 2005 21:33 (twenty years ago)

How the hell do you use this?

I downloaded the file, waited for a site to load but it doesn't.

Am I doing something wrong?

Michael Costello (MichaelCostello1), Friday, 17 June 2005 23:35 (twenty years ago)

wow (from the megauploads.com site):
We will host your file forever, until it is unused for 30 days. If nobody downloads your file for 30 days, its deleted automatically.

I haven't used this site yet, but if it works well, does this mean that YSI will become a thing of the past?

Lingbertt, Friday, 17 June 2005 23:47 (twenty years ago)

No, because Megaupload is uber slow.

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Friday, 17 June 2005 23:50 (twenty years ago)

oh.

Lingbertt, Friday, 17 June 2005 23:51 (twenty years ago)

Megaupload hates Safari.

rogermexico (rogermexico), Saturday, 18 June 2005 01:19 (twenty years ago)

Can someone be a dear and YSI the tracks???

Megauploud isn't working for me.

Michael Costello (MichaelCostello1), Saturday, 18 June 2005 01:53 (twenty years ago)

here's a ysi link: link

Jeremy (Jeremy), Saturday, 18 June 2005 09:32 (twenty years ago)

Thanks for the megaupload and YSI links people.

Hari A$hur$t (Toaster), Saturday, 18 June 2005 09:34 (twenty years ago)

oh wow! I just downloaded "Use It" on Acquisition and it's awesome!

Gonna download the rest now. If they're anywhere as good as this song ... that's so cool!

(it's funny, I really don't like "Letter From an Occupant"...)

babyalive (babyalive), Friday, 24 June 2005 04:52 (twenty years ago)

I feel the opposite of Spencer. A few standout tracks (mostly the Bejar ones and "Sing Me Spanish Techno") and a bunch that I keep skipping. Electric Version is so much more dynamic and engaging.
