I'm listening to it now and it's fuckin' amazing.

I know, I know. Liking ABBA too much may mean your gay but that's a risk I'm going to take.

it's good but i maintain that the best album they ever put out was abba gold.

jody l'anti-vierge (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 17 June 2005 07:37 (twenty years ago)

Classic, although "The Visitors", "Super Trouper" and "The Album" were all better.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Friday, 17 June 2005 07:38 (twenty years ago)

I have to get those.

Michael Costello (MichaelCostello1), Friday, 17 June 2005 07:39 (twenty years ago)

Yeah it's fabulous. Jody is right about Gold but for times when the stuff there just gets too familiar then the ones Geir mentions (and Voulez-Vous) are hugely necessary. There's something to love about pretty much any ABBA track though sometimes there's something to shudder at too.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 17 June 2005 07:44 (twenty years ago)

Gold, yeah. But for the actual studio albums, Voulez-Vous for me.

Douglas (Douglas), Friday, 17 June 2005 07:55 (twenty years ago)

"Voulez-Vous" may work out for those who do actually like disco. For me, that album because just a little bit too disco'ey.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Friday, 17 June 2005 07:56 (twenty years ago)

visitors (cd inc. late singles and bsides) is definately top of the pile

lukey (Lukey G), Friday, 17 June 2005 08:48 (twenty years ago)

you may find this thread of supplementary benefit.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 17 June 2005 08:51 (twenty years ago)

Classic. Tom makes a good point - Abba were so good at crafting songs, it's hard to listen to them and not find something good.

Dominique (dleone), Friday, 17 June 2005 11:09 (twenty years ago)

Of course "Gold"'s best if you count it! What kind of stupid point is that? Doesn't have "King Kong Song" on it tho (which actually is a bad thing)

A Viking of Some Note (Andrew Thames), Friday, 17 June 2005 16:52 (twenty years ago)

I actually almost never listen to Gold, when I want to hear ABBA I 1usually put on The Visitors. And if not that, then Arrival.

milton parker (Jon L), Friday, 17 June 2005 17:14 (twenty years ago)

I like "The Album" best, I think, but listen to all the Lps (bar "Waterloo" cos I only just got it (and before that I got Chris Knowx's old "Ring Ring")) about equally often. Don't even have "Gold", it just seemed a dumb thing to say about a singles band.

A Viking of Some Note (Andrew Thames), Friday, 17 June 2005 17:27 (twenty years ago)

I think "Arrival" is my favorite Abba disc, but The Album and Voulez Vous are really great too.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Friday, 17 June 2005 17:45 (twenty years ago)

one year passes...

Not the record most people think it is: my views on Arrival.

Here he is with the classic "Poème Électronique." Good track (Marcello Carlin), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 17:53 (thirteen years ago)
