not even close! the avalanches run laps around the go team.

yes I think avalanches are more fun, catchier
i think go team have 3 great songs
which apparently they can't license here (the states)

i guess the go team deserve some credit for doing it mostly live, but their stuff sounds so underdeveloped to me compared to 'since i left you.'

My niece loves "Frontier Psychiatrist." It's a grand song for a road trip.

i wish The Knife would fucking tour.

i was wary of their live action due to ILM warnings

.. but damn it was a blast when i saw them in april ..

so i am geared up for their top spot in the JP tent @ Glastonbury next saturday ..

and yes .. even record label honcho admitted the avalanches connection (or was he quoting a review to me .. cant quite recall now!)

first time i heard 'Huddle (In)Formation' i immediately thought of The Avalanches, but there's more to the latter's sound than the former's overall, range-wise.

I've heard the Avalanches are *INSANE* live. Tim F to thread?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 17 June 2005 16:44 (twenty years ago)

Avalanches by miles. And I like the Go Team ok.

deej.., Friday, 17 June 2005 16:49 (twenty years ago)

i saw the avalanches DJ once and it was definitely nuts. it was just the two main guys, but there were records flying everywhere (literally). constant mixing.

do they actually do live sets?

rajeev (rajeev), Friday, 17 June 2005 17:04 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, they do actually play "live" with instruments etc. I've heard their "Brains" nights are good fun with lots of Soca and beer.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 17 June 2005 17:19 (twenty years ago)

the Avalanches do play live sets. i saw them at the benacassim festival a couple of years ago. musically, i remembered being frustrated by their lack of ability to keep me dancing or even working up a good groove for more than a few minutes. it all seemed very antagonistic. but the stage show was really cool, lots of breaking stuff and jumping around. very entertaining.
