Yes, it's there and it's not really rip-off-y but sorta cool. I know this is supposed to be a 'question' so here goes: are there some other songs that take a Beatles Chord Progression directly and hang a new melody on it?

There are extremely common ones that are basically like Blues Progressions at this point. But other times it's quite clear specifically where they came from. Because of their uniqueness.
