My friend is having a big house-warming brunch in Red Hook and he asked me to pull together some music for it. I could never bring myself to put Pet Shop Boys and Everything But The Girl on ANY mix CD's but do I have a choice now? What else goes with Mimosas and Waffles?

That's for sure. Anyway, eighties alt hits seem to be the music of choice at my local brunch place, ergo that should be your option too. Therefore, PSBs and Everything but the Girl.

...But I'm afriad your stuck with me. I was just hoping to break the EZ-Pop strangle hold on brunch. I suppose all the people with hangovers prefer the soothing sounds...but Ned, there just has to be another way! I can't give in to the Thorn!

So put on some of the calmer One Dove stuff instead.

Try this:
Boto - Antonio Carlos Jobim
Stay - Astrud Gilberto
Private Life - Grace Jones
Even After All - Finley Quaye
Paradise - Sade
Daylight - Ramp
Delaney - Alpha
El Mayoral - Susana Baca
The Suspension Bridge At IguazĂș Falls - Tortoise
etc etc

That's much better! And luckily I have most of that already...except Sade. "Even After All" is good for brunch. Maybe also "Everybody Knows"?

And some 70s jazz/funk w/vocals: Roy Ayers, Donald Byrd, like that.

Now I'm going out for brunch, see you later.
