Anyone read True Faith: Armchair Guide to New Order?

It's your basic chronological discography/gig history book and includes all the side projects. (He really likes Revenge), but it has comments and opinions throughout, so it's pretty readable.

It was written by Dave Thompson, anyone have any background info on him? I've never heard of him.

I was just wondering if anyone who's read it if there's any glaring omissions or just how complete it really is.

I know it doesn't mention the cassette version of the B-sides Substance called Sides with a blue and yellow cover, nor does it cover any soundtrack appearances.

never heard of it, but the title is so fucking poor i'd probably avoid it like the plague :)

I read it in an hour last week at the bookstore. It's OK, worthwhile for its status (the first booklength analysis of NO's work) than for its opinions. Thompson said "Technique" was overrated yet failed to explain why.

this got spread around in PDF format about 5 or 6 months ago. It's filled with errors and a generally poor book. If you're desperate, it might be good to read but you'd be better off shredding your money and eating ice cream.

He places positive evaluations on the Other Two and Revenge as well. Almost makes me want to dig through my cassettes to find them. Almost.

Because of Revenge, I never even bothered with Monaco. Shoud I?

Monaco's "What Do You Want From Me?" is the best New Order simulation anyone's ever recorded.

there are about 6 really great Monaco songs spread out over both albums and singles, including, unfortunately a few unreleased songs. Check out New Order online in the side projects forums to find a cross section of peoples favorite Monaco songs. Start with What Do You Want For Me and Shine from the first album.
