I'd go to Peter Hook, cause not only did he come up with amazing stuff (Perfect Kiss), he also played on blue monday when he didn't have to, plus he looks cooler when he's all Viking Bass God with it down to his knees.

I love Simon's look, and I suppose he's a fine bass player......but there is only ONE Peter Hook.
And as we all know......he is a god.Peter Hook's Bass....

1. Age of Consent2. Ceremony - the 'watching for ever' bit3. Waiting The Siren's Call - going from the chorus back into the verse the way the bass anchors the song is fantastic4. Who's Joe - underneath the guitars in the chorus - beautiful5. Your Silent Face - the bass run that ends with a very LOW note6. Cries and Whispers - driving and melodic amid the gloom7. As It Was When It Was - all of it8. State Of Shock (Revenge) - during the 'fly me to the moon/let me see the stars bit'9. Isolation - brutal
Could have picked any really.

Also the echoey, minimalist bass on Everything's Gone Green.

5 to 5, picking some big faves:
Peter Hook + Simon Gallup + David J + Steve Severin + Barry Adamson
Vs
Clint Conley + Kim Gordon + Kim Deal + Joe Lally + Vern Rumsey
Love'em all but I'd say there's a great supremacy from brits here, right?
