5. "Bohemian Raphsody" cover featured on a Queen tribute album, also available in 5.1 surround. Not sure when this is coming out...

6. Xingolati, a music festival on a carnival cruise line boat that goes from California to Mexico, headlined by the Lips (and the only big name involved, unless you count John Popper). Includes a Zaireeka party hosted by the Lips and a screening of "The Fearless Freaks." October 14-17.

As a Lips fan, I am aquiver with excitement. In fact, looking over this list has caused me to wet myself and I don't mind it one bit.

Is the DeRo book a 5.1 Surround Text?

I heard you get a gigantic panaromic pop-up of DeRo himself that you can place behind you as you can pretend that his broad aura is hovering next to you as he muses about how the Flaming Lips are the only rock band that mattered... even though they were influenced by all those SUCKY 80s bands.

Poor old Derog. He can be pretty lazy, but he's been an ardent Lips fan for years, so the book can't be that bad. Can it?

But otherwise: YAY! And YAY again!

Glad the vids are coming out. It would have been nice to have them on the Fearless Freaks bonus disc, but it's a fine DVD package anyway. THis is bound to be another corker.

Christmas On Mars - will it ever screen in Scotland? I'll help organise a screening. I know guys who are screening the Minutemen movie here, although when I say know, I mean drunkenly chatted to after a Mike Watt gig...

I hope the Lips DVD has the Beverly Hills 90210 footage, though I doubt it.

Sounds like it would be a classic easter egg to me.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 20 June 2005 19:28 (twenty years ago)

exactly - i would imagine they're proud of it.

wow, lots of these things look extremely exciting. the world's a teeny bit less smiley when the flips have gone to ground.

I think they're planning some special touring thing with the movie? At some point they were wanting to make a big event of it, and not just take it to the regular theaters (where it would probably bomb anyways). I don't know if the movie will open up for a concert, or if they will open up for the movie, or play the soundtrack, or what. Ah, and that's another thing.

8. "Christmas On Mars" soundtrack, two songs of which ("Syrtis Major" & "Xanthe Terra") have been released on the "Do You Realize" singles. Moody, electronic stuff, most likely. Hopefully released xmas 2005.

Joseph B. Cowart (flamingrev), Monday, 20 June 2005 21:11 (twenty years ago)

For the 90210 stuff they would probably have to pay licensing fees that would not be worth it, considering the DVD probably won't sell shitloads. However, I say this without knowing what I'm talking about. However, they will be reprising "Phoebe Battles The Pink Robots," which was also available on the Yoshimi DVD.
tracklist for V.O.I.D. DVD:

Mr. Ambulance Driver
SpongeBob and Patrick Confront the Psychic Wall Of Energy
Fight Test
Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots
Do You Realize? (UK Version)
Race For The Prize
Waiting For A Superman
This Here Giraffe
When You Smile

Turn It On
Frogs
Talkin' Bout The Smiling Deathporn Immortality Blues (Everyone Wants To Live Forever)
Phoebe Battles The Pink Robots
Are You A Hypnotist??
Do You Realize? (US Version)

Plus band commentary.
