they haven't done a grime album then.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 22 June 2005 09:24 (twenty years ago)

They've got to 1969 basically. But I liked them best when they were in 1966/7.

snotty moore, Wednesday, 22 June 2005 14:24 (twenty years ago)

did the album leek?

Michael Costello (MichaelCostello1), Wednesday, 22 June 2005 16:46 (twenty years ago)

OMG GIMME GIMME!

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Wednesday, 22 June 2005 17:00 (twenty years ago)

did the album leek?

I'm not sure, but I'm sure they'd lettuce listen to it even if we got our hands on it before release.

Mervin Heinz, Wednesday, 22 June 2005 17:02 (twenty years ago)

It's a-maize-ing that they're still around, actually.

Mervin Heinz, Wednesday, 22 June 2005 17:05 (twenty years ago)

yeh, i really had no idea, but i'm happy they're still around despite the fact i stopped giving a fuck after i should coco.

dog latin (dog latin), Wednesday, 22 June 2005 17:30 (twenty years ago)

it's bean too long since the last record -- they should work harder to appease their fans!

wow, that's the most horrible thing I've ever posted here. and yet, I can't bring myself to delete it.

I'm incredibly excited they have a new record. I really think they're the best, most consistently interesting mainstream pop/rock band of the last decade.

"I'm incredibly excited they have a new record. I really think they're the best, most consistently interesting mainstream pop/rock band of the last decade"

et tu, Bobby? :)
every Supergrass album has been furiously played down here too. and "mellow and laid-back" sounds really good to these ears.

Marco Damiani (Marco D.), Thursday, 23 June 2005 12:17 (twenty years ago)

wheatley hippy dip

can hardly stay awake with all the excitement (nostudium), Thursday, 23 June 2005 12:20 (twenty years ago)

Listening right now... very Summery. And short, too! 9 songs and a TT of approx. 36 mins.

Geir's going to cream his pants.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Sunday, 26 June 2005 07:33 (twenty years ago)

dreadful pun aside

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Monday, 18 July 2005 11:59 (twenty years ago)

Wow, can't say I liked it at all. And considering how meh I thought Life on Other Planets was, I feel it might be time to jump ship on this group. :(

Vinnie (vprabhu), Monday, 18 July 2005 14:05 (twenty years ago)

why have they called it 'road to rouen'?

N_RQ, Monday, 18 July 2005 14:11 (twenty years ago)

why have they called it 'road to rouen'?

Because it's a deliberate attempt at commercial suicide due to Gaz's interminable inferiority complex that people onyl remember "Alright" and don't sho' 'dem nuff respec'. Fucking idiot. It's crap.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Monday, 18 July 2005 14:34 (twenty years ago)

It's crap.

Title or album? Because I really sort of like both.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Monday, 18 July 2005 14:37 (twenty years ago)

Title and album. I thought it was half-assed cod-experimental acoustic "see how well we can play and damn the tunes" nonsense.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Monday, 18 July 2005 14:50 (twenty years ago)

oh, these guys did 'alright'? of course, i remember them for 'grace' most of all. cough.

N_RQ, Monday, 18 July 2005 14:57 (twenty years ago)

increased exposure means that parts have grown on me ..

but its shortness is kind of indicating that their 'experimental' side doesn't have much depth to it.

mark e (mark e), Monday, 18 July 2005 15:05 (twenty years ago)

I've jumped ship off them too :( Boo hiss, no fun.

edward o (edwardo), Monday, 18 July 2005 15:12 (twenty years ago)

That's okay. I'll like this one all by myself then. It's more fun that way!

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Monday, 18 July 2005 15:19 (twenty years ago)

it's very mellow, and laidback. no pumping rockers.

Compared to the first album? Or compared to every album? The last 3 albums I thought were all pretty mellow compared to the first one.

If you wanted to YSI a couple of tracks...

Bob Six (bobbysix), Saturday, 6 August 2005 15:50 (twenty years ago)

There's a wee interview with Gaz Coombes in this month's Uncut and he very unconvincingly denies that this'll be the band's last album.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Sunday, 7 August 2005 00:55 (twenty years ago)

But is there an audience for this anymore?

paulhw (paulhw), Sunday, 7 August 2005 01:03 (twenty years ago)

I'll buy it. Their last album was my favorite of theirs. Every single song is amazing. I've been dying to see whether they can live up to it or even improve.

Brecon Beacon, Sunday, 7 August 2005 01:18 (twenty years ago)

two months pass...
I can't get over how laid back this cd is. I think I may end up playing it more than their other stuff.

Jim Reckling (Jim Reckling), Thursday, 27 October 2005 22:13 (twenty years ago)

it's not a bad album.
thing is they don't have any reason to exist

hub, Friday, 28 October 2005 09:25 (twenty years ago)

They have become mellower with each album, and also greater with each album. "Rouen" is a slight step in the wrong direction again (quality-wise, not stylistically), but I still love it.
