He's learned his exec VP lessons well.

Interesting story. The contract smells to me more of a legal issue than a sole intent to steal riffs. But those rules were bizarre, and jeez, look at the consequences. Limp Bizkit ends up basically owning tons of material to use however they want.

i would guess the contract has much more to do with them exploiting the recordings of the material in some fashion (DVD, MTV special, something like that) for promotional use than anything else. it's not like they're going to be stealing anything more complex than two chords; if they did, it would stick out like a sore thumb in their music.

am i the only one who notices how incredibly bald durst is and how hard he tries to hide it with that backwards baseball cap?

That is *low*.

I was shocked the first time I saw Fred Durst without a hat. Never realized he wasn't covering anything up there.

one of the real problems that LB has to deal with is getting sued because they wrote a song that resembles one by a contestant. There are only so many chords and keys, if you know what I mean.

I don't know enough about the situation one way or the other to make a real judgement, but that is something they need to be concerned about.

I was flabbergasted catching MTV News (in New York). They showed a piece on Limp Bizkit, ie the audition. And there was this phreak from Belgium who came especially to play geetar for these Limp tossers. They should refuse this bloke re-entrance into Belgium. ;-)

This rumour seems to be spreading fast, which is of course a good thing whether it's true or not.

DG, Monday, 4 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

This is stupid. 99% of people in bands have this morbid fear of being ripped off. Strangely, 99% of bands sound like shit and never get anywhere. Isn't it flattering oneself a bit to think that somebody already successful is going to rip off a complete loser? Especially in a place like the US where everybody sues everybody for things with far less foundation than that? Also, what did the rest of this guy's band think of him trying out for Limp Bizkit? Any band that would put up with that deserves not to go anywhere. That's the way to the egress, greenhorn!

wow, they have hundreds of nervous dudes playing under a minute of shit they made up on the spot through a bad amp! Those diabolical geniuses, that's a gold mine right there. But wait... can't you walk into any guitar shop in the world and hear endless hours of wannabes wailing on their axes?

fritz, Monday, 4 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

How can anyone who's made it through 7th grade feel betrayed after the guy's made a fortune blubbering in public over what a pathetic loser he's always been? Fred is simply taking a page from all da bitches that ever played him for a sucka. Dude should be happy he got a donut for his 13 hours.
