why are a lot of music writers fat or at least chubby or maybe just a bit lard-like? why dont they go and do a bit of exercise in between blagging and ligging?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 23 June 2005 10:41 (twenty years ago)

I was 280 in high school and kind of ostrasized [sp-fuck you], so i couldn't really get into the sex and drugs that all the cool kids were into.

So I stayed at home and listened to records.

I lost the weight but kept the obsessive listening habits. I'm sure a lot of music writers just keep both.

the use of vice as the anono-email is hilarious though.. given that they write the laziest music reviews on the planet. too busy running around town looking for drug(ged out people to exploit for future magazine issue)s.

donut e-go (donut), Thursday, 23 June 2005 16:24 (twenty years ago)

my favorite Vice reviews are the ones where they review mainstream pop music and start ranting about gay people, roffle, so hep

thought most of these guys were thin dudes with glasses

"blagging" and "ligging" are quite funny words; my recollection is that turn of century melody maker and NME were basically 80% these words

yup. that happened @ manic street preachers post gig party in leeds that my cousin organised.
still being sorted out in court from what i last heard as when i mentioned this incident on guardian blog thread it was deleted due to legal reasons !

mark e, Wednesday, 13 May 2009 15:35 (seventeen years ago)

hey music writers, lay off the CAKE

u have a new mistress my friend and her name is little debbie (omar little), Wednesday, 13 May 2009 15:36 (seventeen years ago)

till being sorted out in court from what i last heard

Are they suing his estate or something cos he died nearly 10 years ago??

I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE UP TO (Colonel Poo), Wednesday, 13 May 2009 16:58 (seventeen years ago)

Imagine my surprise when watching a music documentary, and on comes an intimidating, craggy-faced man dressed rather nattily. And the subtitle says, "Nick Tosches". THAT'S WHAT TOSCHES LOOKS LIKE? BUT HE'S A MUSIC CRITIC.

bendy, Wednesday, 13 May 2009 19:39 (seventeen years ago)

I thought all music critics looked like Elvis Costello?

henry s, Wednesday, 13 May 2009 22:15 (seventeen years ago)

it was hilarious that when i met a load of british music critics in a pub once (a sort of LBZC plus Southall thingy) they were ALL wearing the SAME rectangular horn-rimmed glasses

this was like 6 of them ffs

sorry for british (country matters), Wednesday, 13 May 2009 22:20 (seventeen years ago)

It's because every time I use the phrase 'achingly beautiful' or misuse the word excoriating to mean loud I reward myself with a slice of cheese on toast.

No it didn't. That writer's very much fully sighted so far as I know. There was an attack, but not that bad. And no assault case takes 15 years to go through court. It was probably taken down because you were libelling the band if you said they blinded someone.

ithappens, Wednesday, 20 May 2009 12:20 (seventeen years ago)

anyway i hear the singer died of a drug overdose nine years ago

like i read your blog (braveclub), Wednesday, 20 May 2009 12:25 (seventeen years ago)

ta for the clarifications re the manic post gig/blaggers bust up thing.
as has been said, i too didn't think anyone was blinded (and never said that on guardian - just that someone got thumped), and couldn't understand how on earth it was still rattling on in the courts.
