They sound eerily alike. My vote's for Kelly.

Visage.

Points to Kelly though for stealing from a good source.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Thursday, 23 June 2005 17:08 (twenty years ago)

Visage every. damn. time.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 23 June 2005 17:09 (twenty years ago)

Visage but I rather like both.

Visage. Although, I think the 'theft' by Kelly isn't all that obvious to me aside from the background french vocals and the fact that they use similiar synths. Her cover of "Sound of the Crowd" is upsetting though, seriously. Why would she use an American-ish accent on a song that was tailor made for an English accent? Like when she sings "Stay in time, with the rhythm and rhyme" she pronounces "time" and "rhyme" with this horrible hard "A" sound that kills it. It almost sounds like a southern accent...horrible stuff.

Hasn't hurt her father, who has been doing it for the past twenty years.

good point...but his voice was so shrill I can hardly hear the americanizing going on. Kelly can just *barely* carry a song with her vocal skills, so it's a lot easier to hear when she fucks it up with her Dolly Parton impression on that track.

No contest if you ask me.

Also, TS:

Shoplifting Teletubbies vs just generally complaining about everything.

(That evens it out a bit)

I've never seen anyone before whose breasts begin at the bottom of her neck.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Thursday, 23 June 2005 19:39 (twenty years ago)

Great, innit?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 23 June 2005 19:40 (twenty years ago)

See! I told you she was on some Dolly Parton shit, that pic proves it!

kevin says relax (daddy warbuxx), Thursday, 23 June 2005 19:48 (twenty years ago)

Visage without a shadow of a doubt.

Teh HoBB (the pirate king), Thursday, 23 June 2005 20:01 (twenty years ago)

That photo was quite some, erm, visage.

Visage Vs. Decolletage

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 23 June 2005 20:14 (twenty years ago)

Looking at that photo of Kelly, I can't breathe either . .

three weeks pass...
from remembertheeighties.com:

VISAGE have been asked to remix Kelly Osbourne's recent hit 'One Word', a track that borrowed heavily from the Visage hit 'Fade To Grey'. Visage are currently working on a new record and will release a single 'In The Dark' shortly...

That's an interesting way for Kelly and Linda Perry to pay damages.

brittle-lemon (brittle-lemon), Thursday, 21 July 2005 04:34 (twenty years ago)

linda probably wrote their new single

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Thursday, 21 July 2005 04:49 (twenty years ago)

Unless Kelly Osbourne actually damaged "Fade to Grey" somehow -- which would be amazing, like everyone's copy of "Fade to Grey" was suddenly different upon the next play -- I would imagine there's nothing to pay, and nothing to apologize for. It seems like Visage feel the same way.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 21 July 2005 05:14 (twenty years ago)

I mean whatever they do it's got to be better than "One Word"

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 21 July 2005 05:51 (twenty years ago)

it's lucky you didn't post pictures of kelly and steve strange for i think that would have thoroughly undermined your point

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Thursday, 21 July 2005 06:06 (twenty years ago)

"I mean whatever they do it's got to be better than "One Word" "

Sez you! If you haven't heard it, then step out of the car.

Alfred Soto (Alfred Soto), Thursday, 21 July 2005 10:24 (twenty years ago)

The drums on it are insipid and the treatment on her vocals is ridiculous. She would be great on the Goldfrapp single, though. I don't know why Kelly doesn't do "Bad Reputation," it would be perfect.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 21 July 2005 18:01 (twenty years ago)

"Hey celebrities, your careers would really be going somewhere if you just listened to MEEEEE"

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 21 July 2005 18:02 (twenty years ago)

Her accent is charming! It's a heckuva lot more human than Steve Strange's.
