recommendations on foreign language dance music?

Stuff along the lines of Lucien-n-Luciano and Bpitch/Kompakt techno and maybe even Plastic Bertrand. I'm DJing this nebulously defined "international" party and I'm attempting to avoid english language music (a rule that I will inevitably break).

Play some stuff with really bad English. I have this funk carioca track (recorded live off Furacao 2000 I think) called "The Book Is On The Table." Totally kicks ass.

Download "Watskeburt" by De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig. If everyone here spoke Dutch instead of English, this would possibly be ILM's single of the year.

I'm sure the cognoscenti around here regard it as old hat, but I like Natacha Atlas.

Ruudolf: "Doupeimmat Jumala Seivaa" & Memmy Posse: "Pohjat"
Two kick-ass, highly danceable Finnish rap tunes.

Hey JoB, can you tell us what the lyrics of Watskeburt are about, because the only word I seem to understand is "Lil'Kim', but I may even be wrong about this one. And is it a commercial success in the Dederlands ?

snowballing (snowballing), Saturday, 25 June 2005 06:36 (twenty years ago)

In the Nederlands, obviously, even if Dederlands sounds like a cool country.

fe zaffe (fezaffe), Sunday, 26 June 2005 12:15 (twenty years ago)

fourteen years pass...

Shakarchi & Straneus are I believe from Gothenburg but can anyone tell what the language(s) being spoken and sung intermittently throughout in 'Hessingen' are? They're quite faint and hard to make out in the mix which doesn't help.

A comment on that page suggests it's Tigrinya

Good bump. I enjoyed this record last year after I heard DJ Koze recommend it.
