Here's mine, so far.

Cornershop - Born for the 7th Time
Dressy Bessy - Sound Go Round
Eagles of Death Metal - Peace Love Death Metal
Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak
Happy Mondays - Pills n' Thrills and Bellyaches

Anyone else have anything they could suggest for me?

Michael Costello (MichaelCostello1), Saturday, 25 June 2005 04:03 (twenty years ago)

Based on those, here are a few you might like:

Call and Response - s/t
Beulah - When Your Heartstrings Break
Diamond Nights - Once We Were Diamonds (EP)
Soul Coughing - Irresistible Bliss
Brendan Benson - One Mississippi
Geggy Tah - Sacred Cow
Imperial Teen - Seasick
Ratatat - Ratatat
Los Amigos Invisibles - The New Sound Of The Venezuelan Gozadera
Apples in Stereo - The Discovery of a World Inside the Moone

My aplologies if those are too obvious or too far off.

What exactly is your definition of "fun time?"

Jack, Saturday, 25 June 2005 04:27 (twenty years ago)

"fun time" is a relative concept. One person's "fun time" might involve a pitcher of sangria, a terrace and some samba dancing, while another's might involve a surgical table, some clamps, a car battery and some vaseline.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 25 June 2005 04:38 (twenty years ago)

mine is the Sangria fun time

When I saw this thread title, I immediately thought of the version of "Funtime" on Iggy's TV Eye live album, so that's my nomination.

Leonard Cohen: Songs From A Room
Neil Young: Tonight's The Night
Lou Reed: Berlin
Bruce Springsteen: Nebraska
Joy Division: Closer
Joni Mitchell: Blue
Sly And The Family Stone: There's A Riot Goin' On

kornrulez6969 (TCBeing), Saturday, 25 June 2005 23:13 (twenty years ago)

I'll give you Big Star and Sly, but what kind of Fun Time do you have with those other ones?

Michael Costello (MichaelCostello1), Saturday, 25 June 2005 23:22 (twenty years ago)

I can understand Viva Hate as a cheer-up album ("Hairdresser On Fire," "Bengali," even "Everyday Is Like Sunday" has a kind of sweeping fuck-it-allness that can actually be quite uplifting). But Blue, Closer, Berlin and Nebraska are all crushingly depressing, and most notable exactly for that.

Unless I missed the joke.
