I think it's got greatness. It just loses a little steam by the end.

three years pass...
Very little about her on ILM, either that or everyone's misspelling her name (or I'm misspelling it). Anyway the album just came out this week, it's 6.98 at Target and it's great. I think my favorite track is the disco-ey "Never Too Much" with Eve. I also saw Keyshia perform "I Should Have Cheated" on Live at the Apollo a week ago, it was sort of mildly jaw-dropping. Anyone else checked this out? You should you know.

You spelled her name right. I love her so much. "Never" is fantastic (I love the go-go post-chorus section!). "Thought You Had My Back" is just as good. She's so raw and real, like a Lil' Mary. I expected the album to be a throwaway (I don't even like the single "I Changed My Mind") but it's seriously one of the strongest R&B releases I've heard all year.

I was just listening to her album earlier tonight!
It is really great. That and the new (first?) Jully Black are going to rule my July.

Whoa. Seriously. The production is great throughout, and she can _sing_. This is mighty good stuff.

"Love" is a great song. Is the album worth it?

Just Like You? Anyone?

I think it's pretty great It's more polished than The Way It Is, some would say it's more "POP", but it's just as good. "Falling Out," "I Remember" and "Got to Get My Heart Back" in particular are like WOW.

The Brainwasher, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 20:40 (eighteen years ago)

Also, is she throwing subliminals at Mary w/ the album title/cover/sound-alike songs like "Shoulda Let You Go"? LOL.

The Brainwasher, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 20:41 (eighteen years ago)

Anyone know who did the bmore remix of "Love"? It's so great.

Spencer Chow, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 21:15 (eighteen years ago)

I think this woman is wretched.

I feel like I should know this but it's totally not ringing any bells. or is it a hollerboard 'blog house' remix?

I posted a couple times about Just Like You on the Rolling R&B thread that I will resist cut-and-pasting here (no xuxhko), but those were my kneejerk negative impressions after one listen, it's really growing on me now, especially "Got To Get My Heart Back" and "Was It Worth It."

I heard it on the Tittsworth mix he did for discobelle.net. I think it's more bmore than house.

Spencer Chow, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 22:54 (eighteen years ago)

Discobelle only ever had Bmore shit on their blog when they plagiarized my site, lame motherfuckers.

DAAAAMMMMNNN…dat's hott.

Veronica Moser, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 23:28 (eighteen years ago)

That song was originally supposed to be sung by Fantasia.. I can't help but think it'd be better if it were! Her s/t album is sort of a minor classic I think.

The Brainwasher, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 23:31 (eighteen years ago)

I dunno, ever since I read that I've tried to imagine Fantasia singing "Let It Go," and I just can't picture it being nearly as good, even if she's overall a better singer. Keyshia's just perfect on it, especially the way they scratch her voice on the intro.

Just Like You is so classic. Front-to-back. I can't believe she lost to NE-YO.

The Brainwasher, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 00:12 (seventeen years ago)

also, "Same Thing (Interlude)" should be like 10x longer than it is.
