Does anyone own an actual copy of this release? I'm pretty sure it's been long out of print, but I was just wondering if it was a CD-R release or if it was released on actual CDs.

This was available on CDbaby.com for a while, so I assume there was some kind of legit pressing. Or does that site sell CD-Rs of stuff?

it's a real cd pressing, but the notes say the house arrest disc is going to be rereleased by Paw Tracks in the winter

Question - when Ariel Pink performs live, which guy is he? The one that paces around in circles waving his hand around like a crazy homeless person who happens to look like Russell Crowe?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 13:46 (twenty years ago)

Damn, I think I'll have to buy that. I can't see any advantage of waiting for the rerelease...it's not like they're going to remaster it or anything.

Christian, Tuesday, 28 June 2005 13:50 (twenty years ago)

It's on iTunes, also...

they remastered Worn Copy, but if you're into Pink, "fidelity" really shouldn't be your thing
ps: ariel could play Nick Stahl in a movie:

Nick Stahl! I knew he looked like some celebrity that isn't himself!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 14:03 (twenty years ago)

hahaha, yes, ariel is the crazy one that walks around like a homeless person talking to himself. check out all his music video snippets on the paw tracks website (scroll down in the 'news' window). theyre great.

ill tell him about the nick stahl thing. thatll be funny...

oh yeah-- HI NICKALICIOUS! ...ill let you guess who i am ;)

shh! (wide-eyed), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 20:37 (twenty years ago)

Is it true that Ariel's just another druggy Jew with a trustfund and lax parentage slumming it on indie circuit loft floors across the country?

I'm so excited that House Arrest is about to get a proper release.
It's by far my favorite of his albums and there are a lot of pop gems on that one that i think will instantly resonate a lot more than most of his other stuff.

Fetchboy (Felcher), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 14:18 (twenty years ago)

I have these albums but I haven't listened to them properly cos I'm obsessed with Worn Copy.

um, in so many words...sortof, i guess...if thats how you wanna put it. but what do you mean another "druggy jew with a trustfund" blah blah blah...???
ya know, its also true that hes very talented, very genuine, and doesnt take what he has for granted. its not like hes some asshole bratty trustfunder, as you seem to think.

shh! (wide-eyed), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 23:41 (twenty years ago)

not sure what "slumming it" means either. it's not like his audience is lower class. what's he supposed to do, play carnegie hall right off the bat???

"Is it true that Ariel's just another druggy Jew with a trustfund and lax parentage slumming it on indie circuit loft floors across the country?"

in USA, unless yr speaking strictly and safely sycophantically, class-isms like that just always are gonna seem like a weak take-off on some kind of Brit turn of phrase, like right out of melody maker '91 or something. they just don't wash. and anti-semitism isn't even that big here....

anyways i just discovered the hidden treats of Lover Boy, which i had slept on for too long. echoing the guy above's dilemma over just being obsessed with one at a time.

noizem duke (noize duke), Thursday, 30 June 2005 00:47 (twenty years ago)

lower class vs. working class
xpost

Ian John50n (orion), Thursday, 30 June 2005 00:49 (twenty years ago)

of a lower class, then

Another Allnighter (sexyDancer), Thursday, 30 June 2005 01:01 (twenty years ago)

lower middle class? middle class? upper middle class?

Ian John50n (orion), Thursday, 30 June 2005 01:04 (twenty years ago)

who knows? i haven't seen his tax return.

Another Allnighter (sexyDancer), Thursday, 30 June 2005 01:11 (twenty years ago)

i thought we were talking about his audience.

Ian John50n (orion), Thursday, 30 June 2005 01:12 (twenty years ago)

im just wondering what Maria B's beef is.
oh well...ill take all the Ariel i can get.

and in regards to his audience...i think it kindof runs the gambit. sure, he draws the scroungy lot but his shows are also attended by well-to-do musicians...it depends on where he plays and who hes playing with. i dont see there being anything to debate about really.

shh! (wide-eyed), Thursday, 30 June 2005 01:16 (twenty years ago)

. whatever, the "middle class" dinstinction in the states kinda stretches out to include everybody except for billionaires and the poor.

Another Allnighter (sexyDancer), Thursday, 30 June 2005 01:17 (twenty years ago)

one year passes...

I've only heard Loverboy, which is in dire need of an editor. There are some gems in there, buried near the end. I want to hear more songs from him along the lines of "New Trumpets of Time" and "The Birds they Sing in You", songs with a distant beauty.

does anyone else own this on CD? just ordered a copy from amazon new & used and the cover looks like a print off, complete with jagged edges on the side of the front sheet ( no booklet, just a sheet), is this normal or is it a shady copy?!
