the last minute of i'm sticking with you by the velvet underground:the best thing ever?

this might be fairly obscure, but i'd imagine there are a fair few people here who have the velvet underground box set... anyway, there's something about the last minute of i'm sticking with you as it appears on the aforementioned box set...(from the "i'll do anything for you" line onwards....)its one of the most perfect bits of music i've ever heard...half of me wants to hear a version of it where its expanded upon and goes on for another few minutes (even though its a fade out somehow it seems plausible..)then again, there's something about the way its so understated, just less than a minute on the end of an otherwise unremarkable song (the start is fairly cool, the middle bit fairly cringe inducing if i'm honest..)like "the brute choir" by will oldham it could be built up into an epic, which i'd love to hear, but part of me is glad it stays the way it is... anyone else know what i'm getting at? what do you think of the song? are there any other versions worth getting? i've heard the live version on the "quine tapes" but it didn't really leave the same impression to be honest...

Indeed a fine bit of music, but best thing ever? Surely, not. The best thing ever is "Loose" by the Stooges.

Well, that's it then. We did it! We've finally adressed the final minute of the Velvet Underground's career that hadn't been discussed here yet ;). Now, how about the last 2 mins. of "Down Down" by the Status Quo? I can imagine it going on for hours only it doesn't.

The version on the "Live, In Concert" video is even better.

I was listening to the third album yesterday, and very much enjoyed the guitar interplay. Hardly the greatest song ever, though, that obviously is "20th Century Boy".

best thing ever="Born Under Punches"
Clearly.

Oh yes. And right when that sax kicks in at the very end...

Ned Raggett, Monday, 4 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I agree that "Loose" is the best ever, simply because it gives you more "ball-grab" moments than any other song in music. WHen youre dancing to it, you grab your nuts at the opening "_OH!!", you grab your nuts at the second one, you grab your nuts at the third one, then you grab your nuts at the "DIaHH!" right after that. Sure, you could grab your nuts 20 times to other songs, but they wont feel as right as done to Loose. If you don't know what I'm talking about, eat a gonhorrea burger yo

Ned and Sean, right group wrong song, it's actually 'Metal Guru'

Loop Dandy, Monday, 4 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ramosi, I think you'll find if you just keep your nuts cupped in your hand at all times as I do, it's a lot easier than all that constant grabbing.

Has anyone got any ketchup?

Kerry, Monday, 4 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Has anyone got an antibiotic?

Kris, Monday, 4 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Has anyone got any?

What about the amazing guitar bit right at the end of rock and roll suicide by Mr D. Bowie. It's like you're waiting the whole song for it.
