Sounds to me like the Polyphonic Spree are the new original cast recording of Pippin or Jesus Christ Superstar (in other words, best avoided at all costs!)

Re: Rotary Connection--no offense intended. I like Rotary Connection, and obviously their sound isn't much like the Spree, but there's a certain artsy... provincial... theatrical... hokiness there.
