I'm listening to it now. So far I'm the first track and it's really good and mellow. definately could be in a Hugh Grant movie

Definitely an oddball in the IH canon. Jaco Pastorius on bass? How far out is that? A little too much David Sanborn vibe for my taste, but any way you slice Ian is one of the great (and least heralded) songwriters of the r'n r era.

Yup. In fact, I wish to amend my answer to the "Who Deserves the 'American Recordings' Treatment?" thread to read "Ian Hunter."

four years pass...

man I was listening to "Apathy 83" and thinking, this is a great song! sounds like something off of Desire, and doing some looking I found this review by Dave Marsh from Rolling Stone, saying that "Apathy 83" is about the Rolling Thunder tour. So good job, Hunter!

btw, Marsh writes in that review, "With Bruce Springsteen, Roxy Music, Don Harrison and maybe Rod Stewart, he stands up and embodies rock & roll history". Who is Don Harrison?

I don't think so---that Donald Harrison is 47, acc. to the article, which would have made him 13 years old in 1976 (when that review was written).

Sry I was not being entirely serious there.

haha ok cool

sorta tracked down a Don Harrison Band who opened for the Stones in 1976, evidently with the rhythm section from CCR...kinda intrigued!

I love this record. Its not quite as good as ...Schizophrenic, but its really good. Nice heavy/mellow contrasts.
